Hi everyone.

So yesterday I decided to give Sedo escrow service a shot but I was surprised that their escrow service needs to be started to by sending a request?

I did that more than 18 hours ago but still nothing.

Another point is that I tried to call them more than 10 times over this month but they didn't answer one single time.

Is it really worth it?

Sedo escrow takes too much time, Escrow.com is much better, i would say best one.

I lost hope on escrow.com months ago. Right now Payoneer escrow isn't available anymore, so the last thing I got is Sedo although I'm starting to think twice about it.

I have a sale for around $4000 and wanted to try Sedo. But till now we still don't have any news about the transaction.

You could also try undeveloped.com - if you import your lead they charge 5% commission.

Yes, I already talked about them but the issue is that I4m getting paid using ACH (that goes directly to my Payoneer us bank account). It seems undeveloped can only send to euro accounts (Still I might use their service on my next sale)

Never had problem with escrow .com and the international wire to EU was pretty fast as well. Try submit support ticket to Sedo, in case of domain ownership, they responded to email within 24 hours. Good luck.

You have sent your request via this form?
Usually it takes from a few hours and up to 24h during business days...

p.s. I use Sedo escrow regularly for many years...

Alright, then you're the person I'm looking for :p

I submitted the request 18 hours ago but still haven't received anything from them (or my buyer).

I also found a link on their page about a certification process. Would I need that in order to sell my website? ( the domain isn't on Sedo)

Certification is necessary to bid $10K+ on their auctions...
It is not needed in all other cases incl. escrow.

Then wait...
Still early morning in the USA...

Also log in and recheck this page: https://sedo.com/member/transfer/index.php

I want to the page you sent and found "You currently have no open transfers." so it means I should still wait.

PS: Between escrow.com & sed, who do you think has the best fees?

Thanks for the valuable answers.

Sedo has "concierge" for free and by default.
This means that you can just push the domain into their escrow account (they have it with all major registrars) and that's all - your money will be sent to you next business day.

The same "concierge" at escrow.com will be for additional and huge fee.

Thanks for the links Jurgen.

While Sedo escrow is nice, there are a few things that I don't like:

If the domain used in the transaction has been in their marketplace before then the fee becomes the equivalent marketplace's fee (ie. ~15%) .
Since we can never know that fact, there is always a danger of paying more.

If we also include the fact that, if paypal or credit card is used in the transaction then another 3% is added to that fee, then we are talking for a drastically higher fee of 18%

moreover, at least for us in EU, there is also another Sedo fee which gets applied on the deducted tax amount which reduces the earning amount even more.

Just thought those small details should also be mentioned since, I think, this is the thread with the most info on Sedo's escrow on NP :)

Additional 3% for payments over $500 via CC/PayPal are paid by the buyers.
It is NOT applicable to the sellers.

I can't comment 10/15/20% fees - because ~99% of my domains are not listed on Sedo.
Only ~1% are parked there in BIN-mode.

Never heard of that before. Further, if the domain is parked with Sedo and purchased as Buy Now, then per their terms the commission would be a flat 10%. The sale can easily be set up in such a way as to avoid exorbitant higher fees.

And even if the domain was listed on Sedo before - they don't charge 15%.

The domain must be NOT listed on Sedo only at a time when escrow was ordered.

This was their answer when I directed that question at their support:

I hope that proves that I don't spread 'myths'.

I had at least a few cases when I just removed the domain from my Sedo account and then immediately ordered Sedo escrow - was 3% (min. $60) commission. Never had any other fee.

I always recommend for my buyers to pay via Bank transfer.
But if they prefer CC/PayPal - this problem of 3% is not mine.

Payoneer provides EUR bank account too as a part of global payment service.
Add the bank account details provided by Payoneer for EUR to Undeveloped.com.
Once your buyer pays at Undeveloped.com, you can ask support to make your payout in EUR and you will get paid!

Some of their agents can produce even idiotic replies... sometimes.
For example (from my very recent ticket): they think that my browser is able to generate the internal server errors and even downtimes in their DC...
LOL, but real ticket.

Was just on the phone with Sedo and they stated that the escrow request is usually approved 24h-48h.

Will update how it goes.

From my experience, during summer vacations such delays may happen... when not all transfer specialists are available.
But during other seasons this takes within 12-24h to be initiated.
