Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

Hi @Sedo. I’m trying to list two new domains, but the website seems stuck on stupid about them. When initially added, they weren’t pointed to Sedo, but that was quickly changed.

However, the domains still don’t appear in my list (searching in my domains dashboard), yet if I try to add them again, I get a red error message before I can finish the process. What’s causing this? Thanks in advance.

Hi Molly,

Thanks for your message.

It seems like your domains maybe still in our owner verification check. Please can you email [email protected] from the email address registered with your Sedo account with the domains in question so we can see exactly what the issue is and help you out.

Thanks and all the best
Chris

Hi @Sedo. I haven’t heard back from my email yet, but am starting to wonder if it’s possible to delete all of my domains and add them back? This way, I can just point them before I add them again. I know some have been deleted bc of verification, and I don’t know how else to ensure they’re all there. Unfortunately, though, I’m not sure if that would even work for the several in a seemingly stuck verification state. Hopefully that all makes sense. Thanks!

I have done that before, Molly. If I add names before setting the NS to Sedo, I sometimes will just delete and re-add them with the Sedo NS in place. I've found that it's usually faster than waiting for manual review or for the system to finally detect the settings.

I sold a uk domain via Sedo on Fri.
Mon I receive the email for transfer and then I receive an email from Sedo stating that the buyer has initiated a refund.

I ask for more info which Sedo cannot give.

I contact the buyer (uk) who cites 14 day cooling off period.

Is the 14 cooling off period valid for domain names online bought through Sedo?

Why does @Sedo not have a clause removing the 14 day cooling off period if it is valid since they are within the EU?

How can Sedo take payment and then refund with no recourse. This is starting to feel like eBay and Amazon refunding whenever they like.

Feedback:
Work on your so-called Certification levels for buyers to bid on <10k domains, 100>k Domains & +100k Domains.
If you promote it, make marketing with it, and don't care about it in real cases, step back when it comes to multiple fraud. You are just not reliable.
Anti-Fraud-System seems to be a thing you don't care about; your Contract captures the bare minimum, not even the place of jurisdiction, only the "rights that apply."
Your Transfer Team & I assume all other departments don't work hand-in-hand but rather in silos, which is very sad.
Step back after a failed transaction, not doing due diligence—I posted this already, but I'm more than happy to post it here again for a last time.

It's a pity to even list a Domain on your page, but since there are fewer alternatives, there is no other way.

Bc that's their attitude, even canceling a transaction without talking to the buyer & seller.
But at least for the german entity, Im on it.

Do you mean disregard a law just by stating in their terms & conditions that it doesn't apply to them?

Why do people comment on things they do not understand?

You can ask the buyer to waive their rights with a tickbox.
You can state this is a commercial transaction especially as most domains are used commercially - 14 day cooling off period does not apply to B2B.

So it is not disregarding a law. It is using the law.

Sedo have said it does not apply but have given no evidence why.

Can anyone confirm that the error message below appears when you click "Buy now" as a logged in Sedo Seller (on a Sales lander #15)?

I wanted to test if everything works, but I suspect that Sedo detects that I am the Seller and cannot buy my own domain. Unfortunately, the error message does not provide any additional information about what exactly went wrong.

(it's also possible that the error was caused by something else, I don't know)

Yes same here, if it's my own domain.

Hi Future Sensors,

This is what is supposed to happen, you are not able to buy your own domain, this is why an error will show.

All the best
Chris

Hi @Sedo Chris,

Thanks, that's what I thought. But could you ask development to make that reason clear in the error message? It's pretty vague at the moment. Thank you.

Uh oh, it looks like the listing thieves are out in full force on Sedo and I logged in today to find a few of my domains that were "removed from my account" and are all sitting on another Sedo account with a HUGE BIN (in Euros) on each one.

This is very troubling, as it happens regularly, and Sedo seems to allow "certain people" to just steal whichever domain listings they want, without having to prove ownership in any way. I guess if they ever get the "big BIN" price it'll hopefully be big enough to buy it from the real owner, and Sedo easily facilitates this scam.

That's why, whenever I get an offer, I check to see if my listings are still active at the main marketplaces. If not, I add in the TXT authorization code and get it back ASAP - that happened on Afternic once and I miraculously imported a new lead a few days later.

You gotta watch these scammers, as not everyone is required to authorize domains and they can freely steal listings without even a notification hitting the "previous owner's" email.

It's curious that Sedo Security & Compliance still allows this to happen.

Where and why is this going wrong, @Sedo?

Like I said, "certain accounts" have free reign on Sedo to steal whichever domain listings they want, and it's been going on for years. Sedo knows about it, and apparently they want their whale accounts (many of which are just massive scam listings) to have an "easier time" listing domains "without wasting their valuable time proving ownership".

The problem is that Sedo only looks at the raw numbers and many of these accounts are just scammers mass-listing 10's of thousands of unregistered domains, who then get the option of the "theft buffet" due to their "huge portfolios". LOL

And worst of all, when one of these jerkwads steals your listings, you don't even get an email from Sedo. It just happens.

That doesn't sound reassuring. I've heard about something like this in the past, but had hoped that this would not happen again in 2024.

Yes. Deleting listings without notice is a nasty habit.
