Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

I had read that somewhere. Better for Chinese traffic?

I don't have chinese traffic - so I don't know.

I dont either. I had read that it was good for those who had more China traffic than other traffic and I cant remember where I read this now. I will keep looking.

Takes a lot to move and set up 1000+ names on another parking system which is why I hesitate until I am pretty sure it will work well.

Well I sold a name last week on Sedo and the funds have been sitting at Sedo since the 8th and the buyer is just too damn lazy to start the transfer.
So I am now waiting and waiting for the buyer to start the transfer so I can get my funds.

I don't understand why I have to wait for the buyer to get off their ass, Sedo should take possession of the domain immediately once the funds have been paid and then release the funds to the seller.

Who knows when the buyer will finally start the transfer, its just wrong that the seller has to wait this long.

:td:

Force Sedo to do it. Make them act as escrow. Imho.

I have sent two messages, first one asking them to take possession and the second one telling them I want them to take possession but I have yet to hear back.

The other problem is that it is the European offices that is handling this and I am in the US so I have to wait for them to get back in the office tomorrow.

I don't understand why they cant hand off these matters to the American office when they open and vice versa.

Very frustrating.

Have you tried contacting someone in the US? Getting it escalated? I've heard enough stories to know some agents have no idea what they are doing.

What registrar is it at that you need to transfer and not just push?

Have you been using 1&1 and Register.com coupons again :)

I did speak with the US office and they are letting the UK office handle it, they said that since its a Godaddy domain the buyer wants to transfer it to their registrar and not push it because of Godaddy's 60 lock.
This is nothing new, I have experienced it before, usually with European buyers.

My solution would be for Sedo to have their own registrar so they can push domains in and out with no problem.

And I don't ever use 1&1 and Register.com, cant stand Register.com

Most of our domains are at Dynadot so we always push them to Sedo, it's no problem because they don't have that silly 60-day lockdown. Then the buyer is free to transfer away to another registrar of their choice right away if they so desire.
That's what you get for using nodaddy.

The 60 day lock is really the only thing I don't like about Godaddy.
This is the third time in a year it has been a problem.
Other then that I love everything else about Godaddy.

Did Sedo delete most of their Templates?
All of my templates have been changed to a dark gray and black template called Sales Crush, I did have all of my templates set as Sales Lander but that one is now gone.

I doubt it. My templates change by themselves too. My keywords get erased. My ads are switched off. I have asked Sedo why and never get a straight answer. They ask me the standard "insult your intelligence" question "did you try it from a different browser and is it still not working?"

Whatever. I am leaving Sedo steadily. Not worth parking there and getting less than $10 per month on 1000+ domains when they cant even display relevant ads for my parked domains WHEN they're not turning off the ads or deleting my keywords.

Its become just as unreliable as Afternic.com

Well, it looks as they have deleted all of their templates that use an image.

I don't know why, all I know is they are not there in my account.

They are gone from mine too. In fact, all of my "better" performing names are now blank pages when a visitor arrives. Nice.

Time to leave sedo. They create more work for me and less income. That is a lose-lose situation and there is no reason to give them a dime more of my business or a minute more of my time.

Heck, I would probably do better NOT parking them.

Many people ask, how long does it take to receive the money after the sale. Here is my experience: I received an offer for one of my domain names and I accepted it on July 28th. Payment got to my Paypal account today, so the whole process took exactly one month in this case.

But I need to say that the buyer was really lazy... It took him forever to accept the invoice and to send the money and he never actually transferred the name to his account. So in the end it took sedo 22 days to offer me to push the name to their account. On the other hand I must say that the sedo agent was always prompt with his responses. After this experience I keep asking myself, what kind of people pay $XXX for domain name and then don't really miss in their account? What are they waiting for?
