Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

Sedo refusing to release non paying buyers details

Hi all,

I wonder if you could offer some advice.

I had received a mid $XXXX offer for a domain on Sedo. Basically after making the offer (and offer being accepted after negotiation) the buyer went AWOL and was non responsive. The sale was canceled buy Sedo (not at my request) after 15 days.

Sedo are now effectively hiding the non payer from me by refusing to release their details. The details are needed so that they can be contacted directly by my attorney but Sedo wont release the name or email details, what should i do?

If it were a small sale (a few hundred bucks) i would drop it but its not.

Is there a Sedo rep on Namepros that can look into this or PM me please.

Thanks in advance.

Normally when this happens the "buyer" is banned from Sedo.com and the "buyer details" become available in the contract.

As for a lawyer to take action forget it,waste of your time and money.

Your best recourse when you have the details is to name and shame on all the warning sections on all the domain forums this will soon appear at the top of Google searches for "buyers" name.

You won't get your money and you won't have sold the name but you will get great satisfaction from sending the links on the forums and Google to the "buyer".

Just in case nobody noticed Sedo now has an IDN link next to all IDN domains in the auctions so no more surprises for anyone bidding on them.

Well see if that slows down the IDN sals.

Noticed this a few days ago. Good move on their part.

Yes when you click on the coloured text saying IDN next to the domain name you get a popup with this content:

IDN Domains

IDN Domains are "Internationalized Domains Names", they make the use of special non-English characters possible (i.e. Umlauts like "รค", "รถ" und "รผ", other European Characters like "รก", "รฉ", "รญ"). These domains are subject to many temporary technical restrictions, for example users need an IDN compatible browser to visit them.

Hi Wot,

Thanks for the response it was extremely useful, Sedo have now release the buyers details (name and address) in the contract as you mentioned but there is no email address, do you have any idea where the email address can be found or do i have to ask Sedo for it directly again?

Thanks again

Moonie, does the person who made the offer actually have your domain that you sold to them and you were never compensated? If so, have your lawyer contact SEDO and SEDO should with out question get you the details of the buyer who stole from you.

If however you want to sue the buyer because they changed their minds. This is simply negative energy, you won't win, though the lawyer will because you will be paying them a considerable amount of money. I would suggest you let it go as much as that may suck. Just the cost of doing business, though you got lucky and was simply a little bit of your time.

Remember not to get emotional to offers until you have it in your hand.

I wish you the best!

Hi Zoomactive,

Great advice, thankfully the domain was never transferred to them.

You are correct negative energy is a waste of time. It is extremely frustrating to waste time negotiating and believing that the sale is in the bag but in reality its nothing but a dead beat buyer wasting everyone time. Like you say don't count on anything until the money is in the bank.

P.S. This was Sedo's response to asking for the buyers email address so they could be contacted directly to ask if they were still interested in the domain.

Me: Please can you supply me with the email address attached to the non paying buyers account.

Sedo: Due to data protection rules it is not permitted to hand over additional contact information rather than the address details of the online contract which is already available in your account.

Oh well onwards and upwards.

As you have the name and address chances are you will be able to find the email address-Google is your friend. :p

You can still name and shame either way.I would!

Brand new feature Sedo is providing for domains:

http://www.sedo.com/search/dvi/?dom...erid=51137&et_cid=20&et_lid=246436&et_sub=DVI

Seems like a helpful tool for generic names, although there are a few minor things they've got to fix. Some search volume isn't accurate with GAKT, and the searches for 2+ keyword domains are calculated [likethis] rather than [like this]. Other than that, I think this was a good idea on their part. We'll see how they tweak it from this bare-bones model..

That sucks, and now its the weekend so you have to wait until Monday to do anything about since they are closed on the weekends.

I would be on the phone with them first thing Monday morning.
12 days is way to long.

Good luck

SEDo sucks overall. Thier website is so ambigous. I mean, I have to figure out on my own how to upload a domain and sell it. There are no instructions. Plus, the site is slow as F**K. Get with the freakin' times SEDO!!

Is this a new kind of bait and switch? I had been watching a domain for about a week and it had a 100 EUR BIN. Now I've decided to buy it and clicked the button, but Sedo tells me the seller has recently changed the listing to "100 EUR or best offer". Recently?!? I had visited the page 1 hour ago and it still was showing the BIN.

WTF?!?

Any suggestion??

Hi all,
I own the domain QuitEasy.co.uk and would like to sell or park it.

However I have limited knowledge of how any of this works and which will be most beneficial.

I have read several articles on Sedo however i still am unsure. If anyone can give me an estimated value, or any potential credibility the domain may have i will be extreamly grateful

That was probably the seller who did that. When I check my Sedo stats, the thing I am most interested in is how many clicks I had on my sales lander page. If I have domains listed at make offer on a name that suddenly gets several hits to the lander, I may change it to a buy it now to entice the buyer.

Your seller may have employed something similar or it could be that they listed it that way in error. Why list a name at BIN for $100 when Sedo charges you $50 min in commission?

I have many faults with Sedo but I doubt they are involved here.
