Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

I was foolish to buy the domain I did but I didn't pay and asked for confirmation of the actual what I had bought, they never replied on the message board to my question, only chased me again and again for payment... I didn't know these international codes existed and although I understand people with additional non roman characters my wish to use them I think sedo should very simply just change the view... If you are reading this Sedo...ON THE AUCTION PAGE PUT THE WWW. ADDRESS SO US NEWBS DON'T GET SO PISSED OFF BY THESE PEOPLE.

Just to keep people addressed, sinced I caved and paid sedo haven't called, emailed or messages answed any of my requests for help. Seems that once they have funnelled your money and taken their cut unless you bid on something else they close up tighter than a students wallet,

Sorry for the poor gramma in the last post, a mixture of intense feelings for sedo (place in hell etc etc), my daughter waking at 5 after picking my wife up from a hen do at 2am and iPads constantly changing typed words to apple language.

I'm so tired I don't know what I'm doing and feel as though I have been disconnected from my common sense, here's a good idea let's go and bid on a sedo auction

Sad to hear that you paid in the end as the only consequence for non payment is being banned from Sedo which is nothing serious as most domainers use Whois to buy names, selling is a different
matter as Sedo sadly just about have the market cornered.

You may have noticed at least a few of us here are trying to do something!

Pretty damned good to get a bid on an ASCII lookalike IDN registered on 16th April 2012,what do you think? Shill bid? 100%

Definitely a change at Sedo, they look as if they are really monitoring the rubbish that was on auction and particularly featured domains.

cรฅsino.com (249 Google for "cรฅsino" :) ) is the only one left on "featured domains" and only 3 currently on auction:

ั•าปะพั€.net

ัะฐั•าป.com

ัั€ั.com

Around 3% of the names currently on auction, not bad but 3% too much!

@kemjika11, seams like you are still pissed because of the other thread.
It was explained to you that it is NOT about the nationality. There are a lot of european and american scammers out there too.
This SEDO scam could also have been initiated from someone not russian or ukrainian.
So your comment is really misplaced.

I notice this during this week. but now, the sentence that the domain can only be reach by typing the punnycode is not correct...

regards,
tonecas

Check out my blog today and subsequent Tweets to an open letter and other comments including this from Sedo:" @jslascary, our product team is aware and looking at improvements. #IDN #domain "

They are definitely, finally taking notice and even starting to take action on cleaning up auctions & featured domains in the past week!

Anyway,we will see.

Who said banging your head on a brick wall does not work!

Just sorry that some people had to lose money before things started to happen! :td:

You just need a diamond skull, a thick shock absorbing neck, preferably made of brass, some powerful muscles, and if you are lucky some shoddy masonry.

It's pretty impressive when Sedo actually do something.

The latest version almost there but still not correct and the grammar needs some work:

โ€œ** This domain contains special non-English characters (i.e. โ€œรคโ€,โ€รถโ€,โ€รผโ€,โ€รกโ€,โ€รฉโ€, โ€œรญโ€) and is an Internationalized Domain (IDN). Please note that even if the signs in this domain name appear like regular signs, the domain may not be always reachable by typing in the name, due to browser limitations on IDN names and user setup. The domain can be reached by typing in: XNโ€“80A6AA.COM.โ€

i.e. -Should be e.g.

Internationalized Domain -Should be internationalized domain

โ€œsignsโ€ โ€“ should be โ€œcharactersโ€

Any advance?

---------- Post added at 06:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:58 PM ----------

Only one crap ASCII looking IDN name left on featured domains and one on auction!

Progress!

I am not still pissed off about any other thread.Pissed off means you're angry. My comment in this thread was more a humorous reminder to people that its not only nigerians doing scams. I have also been victim of people doing the reverse- reminding me of nigerian scams even when i have nothing to do with them. Its mostly humorous education.

I have a question regarding linking to Sedo auctions.

I currently have a domain at auction (with a bid). Is it allowable (according to Sedo's TOS) to link directly to that auction?

I would think that it would be okay, BUT I don't want to run afoul of anyone's TOS. On the other hand, I would think that Sedo would want its auctions advertized.

But I have heard that Sedo frowns on direct links.

Thanks!

I have linked to Sedo auctions directly all the time and never had issue. I forward the domain to my site where the auction link is or forward the domain directly to the auction page.

I think TOS forbid linking to parking pages, not auction or for sale/make offer pages. But worth checking what TOS are now, stuff changes at Sedo.

I have been scrolling through Sedo's rather lengthy TOS and have not found anything yet.

But I'm still looking, just to make sure.

That's it :)
You can link to the auction/make offer page.
Don't link to the domain home page.

I have a question about sedo commissions.

The commission for memesofficialdb.com is $60.
I'm unsure if the domain could sell for that price at all.

What am I missing?

btw their appraisal of this domain is $500-$1000...

If the domain sells for $60 then Sedo will take off $50 as commission.

Don't rely on their appraisals or any other automated appraisals. It's all a joke. You'll be wasting your money buying domains based on Appraisals. Domains should be bought based on extension, age, keyword, and similar sales.
