Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

Sorry but I don't follow the last half of your statement.

[told the sales assistant to relist the name for sale after two weeks of non payment (that's clear)]

[i also said to pass on i have renewed the name]

Is that PASS as in "pass it on" or as in "skip it."

Excuse my density.

:gl:

UPDATE .... my buyer came good after i renewed the name !

Sedo Travel Auction

Hello

I've just been checking out the domain names listed on Sedo's Travel & Tourism auction list, and have found a couple of strange things.

Whichever name you might click on for details, and then click on the ranking report, they all show incoming Google links of 350,000,000. Yes, that's right, it's not mis-typed. 350 million.
I checked out VirtualExperience.com (which I don't think has anything to do with Travel & Tourism) and according to Alexa, it has one incoming link.
What's happening at Sedo?

Regards

Ralph.

I have to agree with wot. They have got worse.
I started using them about nine years ago, and think they started getting worse about 4, maybe 5 years ago.
I've had names parked at Whypark with some traffic and small revenue. I tried them at Sedo, and there was supposedly no traffic and no revenue. On transferring back to Whypark I get traffic and revenue. (Curious !)

Regards

Ralph.

Has anyone contacted Sedo lately via their help menu?

Every time I try to send them a message there it says "Unknown Error" and fails, never had this before. Seems it is out of action.

Just tried again to send them a message via their customer support / help system and got this message:

A problem has been encountered. Your question could not be processed.

Looks like there's nobody home at Sedo. Is there an email address for them?

I think sedo is just "Complicating" themselves right out of the picture . As far as set price you are in for a shock, When you try to sell elsewhere and then get stung with that set price.
If you list and forget Or sell and forget to remove you are on the Bad reputation Hook. Because you forgot .

I have not had this problem but when I started seeing posts about it I removed set price from all Domains in my portfolio.

25$ if you set 250$ fixed price and it points to sedo parking

its 50$ even if it sells for 250$ in negotiation.

The only way to get the low fee rate is to have your name parked on sedo AND at the time of the sale your domain has to have taken at least one verifiable view. And unless you have a name that takes some type-in traffic (a keyword) you're not likely to get that hit.

For some reason, my seller/buyer activity index has gone suddenly from four bars to zero bars, I noticed this about others as well.

Does anybody know what's going on?

Thanks! :)

Sedo is bull#%&it... I had some good .CO travel domains listed for that auction and got rejected.
At the same time they had a bunch of travel related domains in Portuguese with the (dot).de extension up for auction.
If mine didn't make the cut and were English keywords, what are the odds of some Portuguese words in the wrong extension have?

First I believe they are helping their friends in that niche of Europe. Second I don't think they have smart people working for them. I still can't believe how they allowed those outrageous reserve prices at the (dot).co auction, which made everyone look bad.

Wikipedia:

"In many of the Romance languages, e.g., Spanish, French, Romanian and Portuguese, "de" expresses the genitive of a noun (like "of" in English). This is exploited in domain registrations under the German TLD for romance language webhosts that offer customized sites, like elforo.de (theforum.of), cleverly encoding the site name into the URL path, such as elforo.de/wikipedia, meaning theforum.of/wikipedia. "de" is also a common romanization of the Japanese word for "by", so there is potential for sites to exploit this ("ryoko.de/bus" being travel by bus), but this has not been widely adopted."

Exclusive Portfolio Charity Auction Begins!
Only at Sedo, March 31 through April 7

Sedo is hosting an exclusive portfolio auction of 78 domains. The auction will take place March 31 through April 7 on Sedo.com. Unlike traditional auction events, the proceeds will go directly to the Strausses, a terminally ill couple associated with the Torah High School in San Diego, California. Some of the domains in auction include consumer-driven names like dessertsmenus.com, spasfordogs.com, usafamilytrips.com and more!

A message from our North American Director of Sales, Kathy Nielsen: โ€œWe are honored to host an auction event that directly benefits such an important and worthy cause. We are confident that each sale will help foster the emotional and physical well being of the Strausses, providing them peace of mind during these trying times. The domain inventory is a solid selection of names, and we encourage investors to take advantage of the opportunity to make an offer and to make a difference!โ€

Check out the complete auction inventory! (links to: http://sedo.com/search/searchresult...id=&language=us&auctionevent=DomainsWithCause)

More about the cause: This charity auction raises money for the Strausses, a couple suffering from degenerative illnesses. Years ago, Jerry Strauss, a successful real estate entrepreneur, saw the value of domain names and invested in a sizeable portfolio. When it was no longer possible for him to work, and he and his wife faced increasing medical expenses, they donated the portfolio to a Hebrew high school in an effort to ease their tax burden. Today, the Strausses survive on assistance from family and friends. Jerry no longer has time or money to develop his domain names, but you can help. Your tax-deductible donation will be used to provide food, medicine, shelter, and clothing for the couple.

View their full portfolio of nearly 1500 fixed price domains (links to: https://sedo.de/search/searchresult.php4?showportfolio=0acd1bda1106bfbc055d38e42df97346559d13cc)

I tried to set the price of one of my names at sedo to 25,000 you cant go above 10,000 without an apraisal.
So I spent about half an hour trying to figure out how to set price at zero just offers, wandered all over the place and just ended up deleting the name from their system.Didnt want to take a chance selling it for 10,000 when i want and maybe would get offered more. All my other names will be set at asking price of 10,000 and make offer.Never had any action there one offer of 100 dollars for sunny.ca lol
Overall rate sedo a zero out of 10
too complicated for me

Leave it as $10k on the offer page, and if you get a offer of say $8000 counter offer $13000 if say that is the price you want?
Or you could place your domains on my site with the price you really like want ( i.e $50k ) and on your sedo offer page have your domains as make offer. ( I am still working on my site, i.e Design and other things but the site itself is ready for members and its getting index everywhere ok. And on my offer pages, there is a link that goes to sedo's offer page also.

In current Sedo Marketplace auction, there are 10 names which have no bids to them. How does this work, according to Sedo faq it is not possible to be on the auction unless somebody made you an offer, which then becomes bid. Home come those few names are on the auction and with no bids?

---------- Post added at 02:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:07 PM ----------

Also, there is one name there which has 4 bids, and it says that reserve has not been made. Again I'm a bit confused how is this possible, if the rules say that the offer which was made initially (and which allowed one to start an auction), acts as a reserve price. So that the reserve is already automatically met.

ahhhh, those are "friend" auctions.

SEDO, without any explicit rules, may list domains for auction with no bids and in no special event auctions.

in the other situation they may be auctions from special events, like greatdomains auctions. in those a domain that has been accepted can have a reserve price that it is not known and started without any bid.

regards,
tonecas

I have asked the question of Sedo on many occasions, via pm, directly, on my blog, as to how they get such garbage names owned by the same people on their various auctions. Zero response of course!
