Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Had a non paying buyer on sedo who won a domain in January. Sale has now been cancelled.

Sedo dont appear to care. They will not sue the buyer. They say I can take legal action if i wish. I think Sedo should take responsibility and sue non paying buyers. Sellers seem to get a bad deal when it comes to non paying buyers..

Thanks twomoon for resurrecting this thread I was just about to go looking for it :)

Is there anyone from Sedo still reading this thread? If so, I've got a question.

Why doesn't anybody answer my support requests appealing the website decision not to allow me to add domains which you considered trademarks or pornography. I think your website decision is erroneous and I want to appeal your decisions. Who should I contact at Sedo to do this?

Thanks for your efforts although i was kinda referring to the sedo settings, i am assuming most people do not have ad blockers installed so they are going to see the ads which means i might as well leave my names where they are if i cant just have a sales page

Thanks again

I know this an old thread evirtual1. But I think Bodis was working on leaving the for sale notice in place when doing this redirect. I don't recall whether they completed the work. But you could ask in the Bodis thread.

I don't think Sedo can take legal action because they are not the legal owner of the domain name(s).

Weird Redirects from Sedo parked name

Has anyone had this happen? First time for me.

A domain parked at Sedo that gets a few typeins suddenly redirected me when I went to the parking page. No matter what, it always redirects you to another site, some well known businesses - do they buy traffic or has Sedo been hacked?

The thing is, this means anyone who is redirected will not see that the domain is for sale.

The DNS for the domain is set to Sedo, I checked.

The redirect is a 302 and is done by nameofmydomain.com/search/redirect.php?f=http%3A%2F%2Fclicks.dm.syn.affinity.com%

Same result in another browser.
Yea, you have to call them and tell Sedo to not redirect your domains.

I forgot what they call this program but its messed up.
I called last summer and told them not to redirect my domains.

Good luck

Same just happened to one of my domains yesterday - when i tried to list it on Sedo i got "trademark issue" message. Support contact form didn't work for me for some reason.

Thanks to twomoon for the tip - i contacted them via live chat. They were fast to answer and in less than 10 minutes the block was removed, i was able to list the name with no prob

But in my case there was no trademark, i checked twice, in fact that was pure geo name. So at least when a trademark issue is a mistake on their side they seem to be willing to resolve it for you in a good manner. Have you tried live chat? Highly recommended :)

Thanks 4pm I'll try that. They don't respond to emails about this issue. Tried 5 times.

OK Live chat not exactly full of life. It's closed Sat thru Mon. So the first time I can contact them is Tuesday evening my time.

previous owner had the name for sale on Sedo at $375

they do not check/remove expired domains in real time

if someone hits BuyNow you wont be obligated to sell the domain, in fact you wont even notice that as it's not listed on your Sedo account

send them a screenshot of your domain management page from your registrar account to verify ownership
takes a day or two for them to approve

dont tell them they suck - that could slow down the whole thing

..and no, they dont suck

Are you with Go Daddy?

note that if you are using godaddy proxy service, removing the proxy will put a lock for another 60 days.

No need to remove the whois protect, just send them a screenshot of your domain from the registrar account and you'll be fine. I did this last week for my newly hand-reg'd domain and it got listed the next 24 hours.

I tried uploading about 170+ names to my Sedo account. I got all the way to "Step 3". When I clicked on the button...nothing. I timed out. The Sedo page was "non-responsive". I used IE9 so then I tried Google Chrome. Still the same. Is it just me or are others also having problems?

How in the world...?

How do you set a minimum offer price for a name you already have listed at Sedo. So far I've only been able to find Make Offer field, but there isn't a place to set minimum offer!!! Craziness with Sedo's interface...

Thanks for any help!

Nevermind I found it under

Sales Settings

Too discreetly hidden in my opinion but it is there.

Sold domain through Sedo, buyer paid Sedo, buyer now wants to back out?

*

Real life situation:

To make a long story short, a buyer approached me about a domain. I referred him to Sedo and told him my terms. He placed an offer, I sent it to auction (as per my terms, which he knew), he won the auction; after about a week (and a reminder notice from Sedo), he paid--confirmed by Sedo.

Per Sedo's instructions, I was awaiting further transfer instructions from the buyer's registrar--none came, although the buyer insisted that he had intiated transfer.

Waiting, waiting, waiting...

Then today I get a frantic email from the buyer. He wants to cancel the sale. He was "informed" that he needed to back out of the deal.

:alien:

My question to Sedo (or anyone else who has experienced this odd situation):

Now what?

I would definitely try and smooth things over with the customer.

Apologize, Apologize, Apologize,

Let him know that you will be on the phone with Sedo first thing Monday morning and if they continue to drag their feet you will switch to Escrow.com and then I would offer it to him for a little less.

Good luck

Apologize for what?

He's the one who wants to cancel the deal, not me or Sedo.

Sedo has the money; I'm ready to transfer the domain.

The ball is in the buyer's court right now, but the money is with Sedo.

What is Sedo likely to do now?

You apologize on behalf of Sedo for dragging their feet, you do what you have to so that you don't lose the sale.

It sounds like he is very frustrated with Sedo and you are the one who sent him to Sedo.

His registrar may very well have sent the request for the authorization to Sedo and they have not sent you the request yet.

Sedo does move very slow sometimes and buyers can get really frustrated and want to cancel, if that happens you then have to go to damage control and do what you can to save the sale, that is what I would do.
I just don't want to see you lose your sale.

It isn't Sedo who is dragging its feet; it's the buyer. HE WANTS TO CANCEL THE SALE--no reason given--so there will be no transfer email from the buyer's mythical registrar.

Sedo has informed me that it is now up to the buyer to initiate transfer from his chosen registrar and to watch for the transfer email--this has NOT happened. I'm thinking that the buyer hasn't informed Sedo about this yet, but I have.

Evidently, Sedo does not have a transfer account at my registrar, so the transfer has to be done the old-fashioned way.

And, no, I will not be doing business with this buyer again, at least knowingly, and, certainly, I would NOT change the terms of this sale for him.

Ok, sorry I miss understood.
I thought he initiated the transfer as in requesting your authorization code and sedo was slow in asking you for it or sending it to him.

So if he has paid sedo and now refusing to accept transfer then you will have to wait and see what sedo has to say, of course as in their TOS it is a binding sale.

If sedo were to stand by that then he would have no right to a refund, he would have to accept the domain or lose his money.
That is the way it supposed to be but we will have to wait and see who sedo sides with.

Good luck.

Thanks, Lennco.

Yes, how Sedo handles this situation will reveal a lot about this company.

Obviously, if the buyer hasn't paid, there's not much Sedo can do, but in this case, the buyer has paid (this assumes that payment is valid, which I would think Sedo would verify before asking for the Auth code--which I have already sent directly to Sedo).

Has anyone else experience a similar situation with Sedo? If so, how was the situation resolved?

I will call Sedo on Monday. I don't want Sedo to think that I'm the one dragging my feet.

Sedo still has the slowest, most cumbersome interface I've come across in a long, long time.

You'll get your money. Sold a domain on Sedo and buyer would not initiate transfer. I had to keep bothering my transfer specialist to contact the buyer. He kept lying and saying he was going to do it. Finally after complaining enough to Sedo they finally gave the buyer a deadline to initiate transfer. Since he didn't meet the deadline I pushed the domain to Sedo's account and got paid. According to whois its still in Sedo's possession.
