By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

why does sedo wants invoice?

I never understand why sedo wants the seller generate an invoice. If sedo already secured the funding, why ever time wants the seller to generate an invoice after they received the funding? What is the point of this invoice anyway (after buyer and seller agreed on the price)?

The buyer can request an official invoice, which has to be created by the seller. It's an added inconvenience, but find a template online and fill it in with the required info.

Also, once you find the template save it to your desktop so you can easily edit it for the next time.

i always tell the buyer they should "use the one (invoice) sedo sent them requesting payment for the domain".

Some people need invoices for their business records - the purchase of the domain is a business expense. I agree that you have more hoops to jump through on Sedo as a seller than as a buyer, but it's just part of the process.

You are the seller. Sedo do not sell domains. They act as a facilitator and escrow between buyer (you) and seller.

I accidentally made an offer on a misspelled domain. I thought it was the correct spelling. Am I obligated to complete the purchase if the seller accepts??

auctions are seven days but you have to rely on the person making the offer to accept it going to auction in your desired time frame ?

they may just cancel negotiations ?

Don't. This has never worked for me. On the contrary I ended up losing money. Instead counter his offer.
A domain I pushed to auction ended up selling for $353. However I had bought that domain for $500 and it already received an offer of $1300 in the past. I just assumed the auction will reach the domain's market price. It didn't. I lost 950 USD.

I see a lot of LLLLL dot com sales at Sedo recently. I was wondering which of the following (apart from demand for LLLLL) is contributing the most at Sedo.

1. Buy It Now pricing
2. Negotiations
3. Regular Auctions.
4. Sales from single person with big portfolio of LLLLL.com

Well, thanks tonecas...I didn't even think of that. Double typo, but nonetheless. So, that said, should I just leave it parked as an adult domain? I've never had an adult domain at Sedo.

I dont find Sedo to be that great. Just my opinion. I cant sell anything on that site. And then the auctions are really stupid. You have to have your domain approved?! What is that?!?

some kind of screening seems logic and necessary for schedule/premium auctions. however, the best part are the crappy quality of domains that get approved many times - and no, it's not a matter of taste or more knowledge of the market by SEDO.

not to mention the no reserve and NO bid auctions that pop up out of the blue for crappy domains - when an auction only can be started when a bid is received.

and finally the limitation to 10k in pricing before you need a manually review by "experts" just for later seeing domains listed for 200K, 500K, 1 million that will never have such a bid unless the earth starts spinning the other way around :bah:
