Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Maybe it's not the right thread to ask, but am I the only one who got some errors or was completely unable to access Sedo today? Now it seems to work fine, but a few minutes ago instead of logging in I was offered to download the file "login.php4"... and then for 10 minutes I saw "Unable to connect to server".

It is cheap domain, i payed more expensive with paypal, they still reply
"you can pay only by wire" and no reason for this.
At the other purchases was a button to pay via paypal or cc, can not
find it at new site

One of my domains has been sold at Sedo at fixed price and payment arrived in Sedo's account almost two weeks ago. However, the Sedo agent didn't start the transfer process yet, nor this agent replied back to answer my question why it is so. Did you have similar experience in past?

yes. eventually it went through but it took 2 weeks.

It's a bit weird as the same agent is dealing currently with another my name which is pending transfer already and that another transaction proceeds much faster.

spam traffic to domains at sedo?

How does sedo determine there is spam traffic on domains at sedo? Since a parked domain does not have its own contents, sedo is the one providing content, then what can you do to eliminate the spam traffic?

Your domains have been removed from the program, and the accumulated click balance generated by these domains has been forfeited in accordance with our Terms of Use. The sales option, however, is not affected through this block.

I don't have any trust with sedo so if I was you I d ask for more info.
For example I blogged about a domain listed with sedo that had inflated traffic because of a redirect from another traffic typo domain.
That happened on November 20th and still this same domain has the same redirect inflating real stats, sedo support back then send me a reply that they ll look into it. Apparently they didnt.
If you take my example you can see that sedo isnt really efficient in monitoring about spam or other type of traffic that inflate landing page stats.

How does sedo determine there is spam traffic on domains at sedo? Since a parked domain does not have its own contents, sedo is the one providing content, then what can you do to eliminate the spam traffic?

There are a number of metrics that could indicate spam traffic such as location (eg. too many visits from china?), low CTR (thousands of visits but no clicks), bot traffic ect...

Hey, at least you got an email explaining it all. A couple years ago I got BANNED from sedo and was told the same thing basically. This traffic was nothing that I had done & out of my control. They also took my money.

This seems to happen to quite a few people. I have since moved on and am done with SEDO's parking program. I can only imagine how much money they are STEALING from people for "said bad traffic".

I think their business practices are QUESTIONABLE IMHO.

Have you left a comment for the agent? They usually start things pretty quickly. My guess is that he missed seeing it, needs reminding. Send them an email as a second choice.

Remember Sedo does not work weekends, and you could be dealing with someone in Europe or the USA.

Funny thing is later that day I posted previous comment, I've got a message from the Sedo agent saying the transfer has been initiated

I was given a warning several years ago about spam traffic to which I was innocent, and the revenue made by that name was taken off me but was able to keep my account.

I have concerns over the share percentage they give, I think its changed throughout the day and on different search terms such as Loan, Debt etc because I get virtually nothing on those clicks.

Unfortunately, our advertising provider did not provide us with any detailed information about why they classified your traffic as spam. From our own experience, we know that traffic is usually entitled as spam, if it does not agree with the definition of natural traffic in our Terms and Conditions.

Only traffic from natural sources, such as type-in traffic, search engine results, or old/expiring links from other websites is defined as natural traffic. Other forms of traffic, whether incentivized, purchased, or created by any artificial means, are not tolerated.

Please note that due to the decision of our advertising provider to block your domains, we are not receiving any parking revenue for them. Furthermore we had to pay a penalty fee to our advertising provider which usually exceeds the parking revenue of the parked domains. Therefore our only option is to block the parking and delete the un-naturally generated revenue of the affected accounts. The parking option can not be unblocked for the time being.

They were already allowing names to be sent to auctions with no bid for some people

I think it is only for individuals with very high net worth portfolios. Not the typical domainer, that's for sure. Most of us have trouble even getting 1 domain into their auctions!

the problem is that you don't know which domain out of a thousand to put analytics on.
