Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

Maybe the offer came from someone who just missed the "m"
and it's just an honest mistake - is in't there anyway to reply to it
and let them know?

That is hilarious. I guess if they think it is the .com the sale won't go too well if you try to complete it.

Well, confusion reigns supreme. I have received a sedo offer for a domain name dot com which is very nice, except i have the dot co, not the com.

Hi just to clarify - how can someone make an offer on sedo for a domain that is not listed there?

If they made you an offer on a .co you have listed there how do you know they wanted a .com? The offers are binding so whatever it is you can accept it.

Or is this a Sedo Broker contacting you?

This is a geo domain of a major city in the Phillipines. All tlds are listed on sedo. I am a little confused if the potential buyer wanted the com but made a simple spelling mistake by leaving off the m in com or wanted the co and typed in com through habit. I don't know how it all hangs together but i thought also that perhaps sedo slipped up if they themselves manually enter domain names on offers.

I have contacted sedo but apparently they go to sleep over the weekends so will have to wait another day or so.

The offer is mid $XXX so either it would be a very cheap geo com or a ho-hum offer on the co.

A domain is only "listed" for sale on Sedo if you add it to your account. To buy a listed name you just click "buy", you don't have to type the name, and your offer is binding.

If a buyer asks Sedo to get a name for them that is not actually listed for sale on Sedo, then they are asking a Sedo broker to get it for them and they pay a commission for that. The buyer could just approach the owner directly via the whois.

So it looks like you got an offer via a Sedo Broker. That imo should mean higher prices.

Sedo Auction..

I have a name that I'd like to submit to auction but Sedo isn't approving my account. Does anyone have any idea what I can do?

Thanks

I suppose all what you need to do is register there and then follow all instructions they give you.

I suppose you need to follow the rules from SEDO in this particular situation

Received a reply from sedo support who informed me that i had both the com and co in my account. Not sure how the com got there as been registered for last 10 yrs by one owner, but i guess i could have mispelled the co to com when adding to my account. I couldn't check this as sedo said they had deleted it from my account.

Does this mean sedo needs better screening of names added to accounts?

Hi but if the spelling was incorrect you would have had only the com in your account, not both.

I have had sedo show a domain with transfer status that had not been sold, when I queried it they said it was an error, but they did not fix it - I was not sure I could receive bids with that status.

You can probably add any domain to your account, the real problem is dropped domains that stay in the previous owner's account getting clicks and offers that get no response.

Why shouldn't they approve your account, if you're not blacklisted there?

(Then the question is: are you blacklisted there? :) )

You need to receive an offer of at least $60... Or submit to a specific SEDO auction and then you need that SEDO accept the name.

I have an offer on one of my domain, I want to make a counter offer but have a doubt.
After I make a counter offer should I hold onto the domain name for 7days if the buyer on sedo does not respond ?
Or can I sell it to someone else if I get a different offer directly not on sedo within 7days ?
