Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

some not happy with the changes

Searching for keyword(s).whatever shows up a complete mish mash of unrelated names after the first 4 or 5 names.

For instance if I want to search for "mobile television" I would expect to find the exact keyword(s) with the various extensions at the top of the list but that is not the case.

It appears that .com is given priority no matter what the search is for, even though the .com's hardly relate to the keyword search- here.

Simply if you have a keyword(s) other than .com and a couple of others it will get lost in the huge list of barely related names.

Certainly those who are unfamiliar with the system, probably end users are unlikely to see your name if it is not one of the chosen extensions.

Needs a rethink?

i am waiting for one sale since aug 28 mate ;)

weird buyer and useless sedo support.

I just had one sale cancelled a few days ago - X,XXX EUR - apparently buyer couldnt afford it then offered to send me 10% of the sale, but never did...waited 1 month for payment.

Waiting on another X,XXX sale to complete, havent heard anything in a week...fingers crossed

They need to instill some sort of policy with regards to payment and enforcing contractual law - i just dont see how buyers can back out without any repercussions...we put those "sold" domains on hold for X amount of time and are tied into the contract in which time other sedo sales could have occured

did anyone noticed some changes in sedo when searching for domains?

Previously in case there is any auction running with search term, then it was showing on top along with other listed domains. now its not showing on search result.

Do Submitted Names Ever Get Accepted for Premium Auctions?

Hi all, I'm still pretty new to this. For several years I've had a name that I think is pretty darned good. Last month I paid Sedo $49 for an appraisal, and they seemed to agree. One of the statements from their appraisal was "Ultimately, your domain name is of very good quality," and I was pleased that they estimated it's value to be $18,000. Yet the following week I submitted it for their premium domain auction, and within 2 days got their rejection email saying the name did not meet their quality criteria. Well their own appraisal said it was "of very good quality," and the $18,000 they pegged its value at is no slouchy amount. So ... do names ever get approved for the premium auction from those regular submissions? Just wondering. Thanks.

I wonder if they ever respond with "grace delete" "reg fee" "your domain is worth 0" Probably not, they want that $49 again :)

It's unlikely that experienced domainers would pay the likes of Sedo for an appraisal.

Plenty of appraisal threads here and elsewhere and all,for the most part, free. You will most likely get a wide variation in values/comments but at least a wider spectrum to work from.

To Keith

Hello Keith,

I have parked few domain with sedo but I have following queries please help me out:

How can we bring organic and type in traffic to our parked domain?
Can we edit page source code as i am not finding the keywords ans titles not appropriate?
I have read in FAQs that we can use invisible frames for the park domain to edit title and meta tag How can we use that?

Please Make your FAQ part more clear specially when you are giving answers like this.

Going through Sedo for the appraisal was very intentional on my part (even knowing I could have gotten an appraisal for cheaper). I felt the name was a higher-end name, and my thinking was that if Sedo determined through an appraisal that it was in fact a valuable name, that they'd be far more likely to accept the name for their premium auction. (Heck, I even imagined they might approach me for their auction.) Well, the first part of my assumption was borne out - they found the name to be "of very good quality" and estimated its value to be a pretty respectable $18,000. But the second part of my assumption obviously fell flat as they rejected the name for their premium auction.

I really would like to know from others what your experience has been in this regard. Have you had what you felt were high-level, valuable names that you submitted for Sedo's premium auction and had them accepted? Anyone? Thanks.

Yes. I have had multiple one-word, short dictionary .COM domains that were not accepted for the premium auctions. These same names receive unsolicited offers all the time. Does it surprise me that Sedo or other auction houses did not want to include them? No.

Sometimes names that are not clearly commerce-centric or do not get a huge amount of natural type-in traffic will be PASSED on by both buyers and auction submission reviewers.

It doesn't mean the domains are not valuable. In fact, some names that are rejected for certain auctions are later accepted for a different event.

In the end, your domains are worth what you are willing to sell them for (to a buyer who is willing to pay that amount). If they make money on their own (parking, website, etc), then you have additional criteria for valuation.

Can anyone please tell me how to do a search at Sedo for a single word, "poker" for instance, where it will show ALL the extensions for the single word on the first page.

1. Select all Extensions.
2. Uncheck "Consider synonyms".
3. Click on "Options" in the Search Box and select "start with" instead of "contain".
4. Type the word you searching for.
5. After the results load, Sort By "Domain" instead of "Quality".

You can then "Save Search" so you can use it later.

Thank you.

I thought I had an idea what I was doing you can imagine how hard it would be for a newb or end user to find out this info and find the name they want.

Too bad offers have to be turned down that would otherwise be accepted because of the $50 minimum fee. Would be nice if Sedo let the person putting the offer in know that we would clear a whopping $10 on a $60 offer

if you use fixed price list it works with 10% ?

sedo offer for com, i have the co not the com

Well, confusion reigns supreme. I have received a sedo offer for a domain name dot com which is very nice, except i have the dot co, not the com.

Wonder if this is the start of mega problems with dot co's or if sedo has got its knickers in a twist and it is for the co?

lol let them know and maybe they can find out what happen. They might do indeed want the .co though. Is it .com momey?

I would check who has the .com and see if you can make a deal as a middleman, just be careful.

Or reply that you are willing to sell the domain.co and see if they try to correct you about it. Perhaps they said it was .com by mistake when they meant to say .co? :)

I would guess that opalxx could tell by the amount offered if they meant .co or .com. Depending on how good the name is. They contact you again yet? What's the verdict? I wouldnt try to middle man it, as your really not doing anything that the other party cant do after they learned there mistake.
