Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

Just a quickie
I have a domain parked at Sedo with views and have had an offer. Yet the sedo commision on this $200+ offer is $50.
I thought it was a percentage with parked names or has that changed?

The fee is $50.00 or 10%, whichever is greater.
So, below $500 is still $50.00 for Sedo.

Lets say your domain sells at $1K. then Sedo's cut is $100.

Push it to auction, and see what happens.

Good Luck!

Vito.

If you park domain with sedo AND have fixed price, there is no minium $50 fee, only 10%.

There is a big security issue with sedo.

I've just sold a domain with fixed price at sedo. The domain is registered with godaddy. On my sedo transfer panel sedo asks for EPP code.

This is not how sedo normally works. Normally I should push to sedo account at godaddy.

There is a big security issue here. Sedo has no way of confirming the domain is in fact transferred to the buyer. The buyer could argue he never received the domain.

if the sedo rep himself transfers the domain to other registrar then its fine. otherwise its a security issue. have you asked this with in the transfer panel ?

I don't need to ask sedo. I already know. This is from my sedo transfer panel:

Preparation of domain for transfer
The buyer has now submitted payment and you should prepare the domain for transfer.

1. Please log into your registrar account and turn the locking function of the domain off. The domain will not be transferred if it remains in a locked status.

2. We will also need you to provide the authorization (EPP) code for this domain name. The buyer needs this information to transfer the domain name into their possession.

Submit auth code

In order to ensure proper rendering of the auth code, please use the link above to submit the code to Sedo for processing. Please do not submit the code via a free-form comment.

3. Kindly check and confirm if you have access to the currently registered admin-c e-mail address.

When these steps have been completed, we will instruct the buyer to initiate a transfer request from his/her registrar.

This may have already been mentioned, but will there ever be a time when you can search for two letters on Sedo? I was once looking for 3g domains, then TV related domains (not the ccTLD .tv) and very recently, 3d domains, and if you search on 3D or 3G (or any two letter combo) you only get back exact-match domains (3g.info, 3-d.info etc etc).

I found one eventually on another marketplace, but it's frustrating not being able to search Sedo's massive collection. And indeed, means listing these types of domain on Sedo for sale is pointless.

Many thanks.

Another thing is, the domain can't be transferred out. Godaddy has issued a 60 day self imposed transfer lock. The domain was created in 2006.

The first time I was asked for the EPP at Sedo I was quite surprised. Fortunately, the domain was in a period where I could not transfer it out so Sedo said to push it to them and they could negotiate the lock using their special "registrar relationships".

In the past, at Sedo, I never had an issue (as a buyer or a seller) with pushes. As a buyer, the seller would push the domain to Sedo and again, Sedo could use these "registrar relationships" to get the locked changed so it could be transfered out.

Why does sedo think it is acceptable to transfer directly from seller to buyer? This is a security risk. They shouldn't do that, especially for known registrars like godaddy.

Sedo is getting worse and worse every day.

I thought the most annoying company in domain business was godaddy. I'm about the change my mind.

If you are selling a godaddy domain at sedo you have hit the jackpot. Both of these are like headless chickens running around without knowing what the heck they are doing. One decides to lock down my domain for 60 days for no acceptable reason. The other decides it is all right the buyer transfers the domain directly from me.

well anyway, let me just post an update

i just made my 1st sale via sedo and i'm a bit confused. i did some research and found out that there's still a process of verifying the payment before i actually do anything to initiate the transfer like giving auth codes and stuff. this info was cleared to me by the sedo rep though a day after submitting a question of what to do next :)

still waiting for the next go signal and i hope things don't lag behind schedule to much like what others are complaining about.

status remains "not for sale"

Domain names listed in Sedo and remained the status "not for sale"
there is no response from Sedo after contacting them.

Anyone know how to revise it to for sale status ? Thank you.

If you mean you have just listed your domains in your sedo account and they have'nt cleared then do the following. (they show as not for sale until they are verified)

Make sure you do not have whois privacy set on the domains as sedo needs to confirm ownership first. It usually takes a couple of days to confirm new domains so if you've just listed them wait 2 days to see if they clear.

If its been a few days then Log in to sedo and go to > Services > Customer Care Centre on the top nav, then go to Enter Now > Ask A question - ask them to manually check whois ownership so it can be added to your account, It may take a couple of days before they do it.

If you mean they have already been listed/verified in your sedo account and you want to change them to for sale, do the following

Log in to sedo, go to MY SEDO on the top nav > down and across to MY DOMAINS > then adjust the drop down menu to show > Update Sales Settings then find the domain and choose yes or no in the "list For Sale" column > scroll to the bottom of the page and click execute (make sure it is marked "save marked changes" in the drop down box.

Phew....If you DON'T mean either then just ignore me and I'll go away :guilty:

Anyone else having trouble logging into Sedo?

I keep getting this certificate error. It's never happened before. Am I the only one?

An error occurred during a connection to sedo.com.

The OCSP server has no status for the certificate.

(Error code: sec_error_ocsp_unknown_cert)
