Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

The whole process can take up to 3/4 weeks to complete!

Wow! Thats disappointing. I paid like 10 minutes after offer was accepted, I expect to get the domain within 24 hours.

I hope there are real reasons for transfer to take this long?

Amway, I guess waiting is the name of the game.

Well, it can take that amount of time, but it could be faster. You have to take into account at least the transfer between registrars, so 24 hours isn't really possible.

it CAN take a few weeks, depending on several factors such as how long the buyer takes to pay (and perhaps the method of payment), whether they want to do an internal push or transfer out, how motivated/available the seller is to conclude the transaction and get paid, WHO the transaction agent is and perhaps even time of week (as I have never had a transaction completed on a weekend)........ BUT, I also have had a transaction paid and pushed within 24 hours and a couple within 48 hours so it isn't ALWAYS so dismal!

Yes, but I suppose that's a rare event for Sedo sales, isn't it?

I imagine so.... can't really speak for more than my own experiences and, although I have had several transactions that took 4-8 business days and a a few that took over 2 weeks for unknown reasons (not to mention the ones the drug out only to go "unpaid" and be canceled eventually, grr), to be fair I also wanted to mention that at least I have had a few completed surprisingly fast so, again, isn't ALWAYS a frustrating waiting game.....

Sedo is closed on weekends, so there will be no progress on completing a sale during that time. This Monday is a holiday in the US, don't know how that will effect things.

Sedo doesn't close a completed auction even after I have send them the invoice they requested. The transfer agent is useless and never shows up. The customer service is even more useless as all they do is to forward my tickets to the transfer agent who never responds to anything. So, I have a closed auction that is not actually closed and it shows under my "running auctions".

Sedo's transfer service is horrific. I like everything else about this Company, but the transfer people are very non-responsive. If Sedo would change this and hire better qualified transfer specialists, they would have more loyal customers, better customer retention, and would not lose them to Moniker, etc

I agree! I had my first Sedo sale a couple of months ago and I hadn't a single reply to my messages from the transfer agent!

We have a pending sedo sale atm. It will definitely be interesting to see how long it takes them to transfer the domain. We've done everything we can on our part :)

I think it would be a good idea for everyone to share the names of the Sedo Transfer Agents that are not providing satisfactory communication and/or transfer services.

This would help Sedo identify where the system is failing and would also help keep agents accountable. Personally, I have had only good/great transfer experiences with Sedo over the past 6+ years, with the exception of a couple of canceled transactions (Sedo deemed the other parties to be security risks).

Usually, the Sedo agent who handles my transactions is Colin Finnan. He is normally very efficient and the transfers are swift and carefree. I will admit over the last couple of years that response times are down. This is because I have benefited from having sales agreements, domains transferred, and payments being processed ALL in the same day before. Now it generally takes 3 to 4 days to complete the entire process, and one or two more if there is a request for a sales invoice.

i am guessing response times are slower due to increased turnover (more sales)

Colin is a very good transfer specialist, as is Eric. Most of the others are lacking the necessary skills to engage loyal customers. This is an area where Sedo is most vulnerable to losing its market share - those transfer specialists and their nonchalant approach to satisfying customers. I've had transactions delayed on both sides recently - buying and selling, even when payment was made right after the sale. Payment or domains taking over 12 days to reach the respective parties.

Sedo parking sucks!!!

Here's the text of an email I received from them yesterday informing me they'd closed my account -

"Our advertising provider has notified us that a significant portion of the traffic associated with
your domains has been deemed โ€œspamโ€ traffic and is therefore ineligible for Sedoโ€™s parking program.

As part of Sedoโ€™s responsibility to our advertising partners ensure that traffic participating in our
parking program meets quality standards, Sedo compiles data on traffic from a variety of sources,
including our advertising partner. During this data review, we have no choice but to block the domains
that are presented to us by our partners.

In many cases, our members have purchased domains from sellers who may have promoted those
domains in the past, and the new owners are unaware of any prior promotion that may have taken place.
This decision does not imply that any action was taken on your part to violate the Terms of Sedoโ€™s
parking service. However, in order to protect advertisers and consumers, we must maintain high quality standards.

To maintain the integrity of click prices and the quality of Sedoโ€™s parking program, your account was suspended, your domains have been removed from the program, and the accumulated click balance generated
by these domains has been forfeited in accordance with our Terms of Use."

That email came out of the blue with no prior warning, and was sent from [email protected]. Despite their third paragraph stating that it "may" not be my fault, I am deeply offended to receive an email from that address. I have never indulged in click fraud, and I've never driven traffic to my domains.

To put this in context, I only had 11 domains parked there, and they'd all been there for a few months. They had very little traffic, apart from one which had traffic in excess of 100 UVs a month. The last domain earned me a few euros a month.

Now here's the crunch. My earnings had risen to about 30 euros over the past few months, none of which they've yet paid me. Now all of these earnings are forfeit because some "advertising provider" has allegedly shopped me to Sedo. No warning, no proof, no second chance and no avenue of appeal.

I may be a cynic, but I can't help feeling that Sedo have avoided paying me for, IMO, fairly earned parking dues by informing me of an unsubstantiated notification from their advertising provider.

I'm not sure if what they're doing to me is legal, but I'd guess they've got that covered by their "Terms of use", somewhere in the small print.

Same here :bah: I got the same mail 2 days ago... And I only parked leass than 20 domains with Sedo. I guess the main feed for Sedo Parking is google.com. However, I don't have any problem with Google while I am parking over 300 domains there at the same time.

Sedo Sucks! Everyone knows

Right now I am sitting on a stagnant Sedo transaction. Three reminders have been sent to the buyer, with the last sent on May 29th. I have written update requests on June 1st and 4th and then asked for the transaction to be cancelled on the 7th. Other than those "generic" reminders sent in May I have not had any communication with my transfer agent.

I don't want to expose their name as it is someone that has done great work for me in the past, but this is extremely disappointing. At this point I don't care about the non-paying buyer, it's the lack of communication that is getting to me.

Usually there is a lull before a storm. I wouldn't be surprised if domain parking companies like Sedo, started kicking out all but the very best domains, that is , domains that have decent type in traffic.
Sedo can get by without parking if they have to, after all, they handle most of the top domain sales.
1 year ago, Sedo were pretty much on the ball, now their customer service is virtually non-existant. Could be down to restructuring and staff reductions ? It would not be fair to blame Sedo if this is what's happening. The search engines are the ones who call the shots when it comes to domain parking. In the very near future, there will be no parked domains in their indexes, and most of the automated mini-sites will be de-indexed.

Just a quickie
I have a domain parked at Sedo with views and have had an offer. Yet the sedo commision on this $200+ offer is $50.
I thought it was a percentage with parked names or has that changed?

I'm still waiting, Sedo, for you to answer my support ticket. Two months now.
