Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Congratulations!
Redesign failed usability killed.

I must say that I largely agree. Before, the site wasn't going to win awards for best looking site, but it was clean and easy to navigate. I may come around, but this just seems to be a step backwards.

I agree. Hope there will be option to switch back to old design, cause this one almost took me 5 minutes to get to transfer centre

Ok after taking a deep breath here are my beefs with the redesign:

A) Decorating your site with photos of random smiling people bought from istockphoto is not for domaining and is amateurish.
B) Poor use of space on the home page. Ridiculous how much dead space there is.
C) The very thing they should have increased on the home page (domain exposure) they minimized.

And the saga continues. This is like the 5th website I know in this business that is a jungle. Are they all owned or developed by the same company?

I would fire:
1. The QA team for not testing the site on a big monitor
2. The deploy team for not knowing how to do a silent launch.
3. The development team for destroying the site.
4. The management team for no vision and for disabling internet users
5. etc....

How hard is it to login into Fabulous or Name.com and see how simple things could be?

I hope this new design lasts as long as their Beta Optimization (anybody noticed?) did as it took away half the functionality. And one more thing when you're in porn business you put women on your website.

Furthermore, the stock-blonde-woman staring down at me while I view my domain listings is rather creepy. She appears to want something from me. Please make her go away.

The biggest thing that bothers me is the lack of attention to details. That green background behind the login section in the top right has white edges - if this was a "pro" job done by a third party Sedo should get their money back.

On the usability side, the main menus are not clickable - another huge nono in the industry.

Sure, some of the new features are useful - like the landing portal statistic - but that should have just been added to the older design. The sad thing is that Sedo is a big enough company that the site update should have been 100% ready to go, so most likely this was the agreed corporate design - that does not bode well for trust in their management.

(sorry for some of the over-reaction, I just don't understand this update)

Absolutely. I noticed the green background edges also. That's definitely a rookie mistake in web design. The menu problems for me where resolved, the menus work now. Looks like someone was working on the site after release.

Frankly, the redesign is amateur work. It looks like a cookie-cutter template with no originality. And the wasted space. Look at the padding and margins, all could be made thinner. The header prime example. The middle with the woman can be made half the height and still look good. The tabs in the header are 68px tall. Again, half the height would still look good. The secondary menu area has tiny font and the padding is 10px top and bottom. Either make the font larger or make the padding 5px. There is no need for 10.

The featured domains and top domains show 5 domains each and have tiny font and poor color contrast. That section should be prominent and show 20 domains min each rotating.

Throughout the day they have improved some of the issues we have discussed, but there are still some issues. I really find it bizarre that they didn't have everything ready before the launch.

Frankly, the front page is probably the first part of the site...before it was very informative, but now it's brutal.

I've sold dozens of domains at Sedo but I just sold my first one where they gave me a minimum $50 fee.

I have nine domains on sedo escrow now ie i have to pay $450.00 as commission alone but most of the domains are sold under $100.00, so its a huge loss. This way things are going then sedo become richer very soon and sellers become poorer.

On fixed price there is any option for running auction or fixed price means buy now price only?, all these sales are done by directly contacting buyers not through offers comes from sedo, so i need to workout an alternative method to deal with buyers to get deal done without a middle agent.

Specially since the domain changed hands midway during the auction?

I'd really be interested in getting more info, the other 4 auctions of the same seller are still going.
