Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

And the saga continues. This is like the 5th website I know in this business that is a jungle. Are they all owned or developed by the same company?

I would fire:
1. The QA team for not testing the site on a big monitor
2. The deploy team for not knowing how to do a silent launch.
3. The development team for destroying the site.
4. The management team for no vision and for disabling internet users
5. etc....

How hard is it to login into Fabulous or Name.com and see how simple things could be?

Agree with you totally. Regarding (i), forget large monitors, its not even cross-browser compatible.

Are SEDO charging $50.00 fee for $60.00 domain sale for the new design?

Hi Guys

It has been a long time since I have listed anything on sedo. Their "pricing" was always a little confusing but they've changed something while I was away.

Seems as if you used to be able to set your auction on Make Offer with no dollar amount specified, or you could use "Make Offer" and specify a dollar amount. If you received a bid you had the option of taking the listing to auction using the bid as your reserve. But now it appears that if you set a price, you are obligated to sell if you receive a bid for that amount.

Now that I think about it, I don't see how a domain goes from being a listing to being an auction.

I have read everything I can find in their "Pricing" info section but still don't get it. They always were kind of a confusing place to sell. At least it looks like they straightened out their Categories. Jesus that used to be a mess.

I have a funny feeling that the answer I'm looking for is right under my nose but I'm not seeing it. But that's just me. So any input at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and I hope everyone is having a good Holiday Season !!!
Charles

You still can send a domain to auction once you receive an offer.

I'm not sure if this is the answer you are looking for but let me know if you need anything else.

I wrote a long response and then deleted it because I think I concluded that I have two pricing options.

1) The buyer sees no dollar amount, only Make Offer, or

2) The buyer sees a dollar amount and that amount is the Fixed Price that I am obligated to accept.

This is ridiculous. Sedo has always messed with my head. :bah:

The answer is simple find another platform to sell on dump Sedo

Main problem is none exist in the market to compete with sedo and those existing are offering worst service than sedo. In case there are couple of competitor exist then sedo even compelled to conduct business minimum of $5 from $50. Currently they are taking full advantage and squeezing maximum money from seller.

Thanks for the input ODST.com.

I think that I've tried a dozen or more but I don't believe that you get the coverage with other auction houses that you do with sedo, afternic and tdnam. Seems that the majority of the sales come out of those three.

Who do you use ??? Who do you like ???

Thanks DNBro. I was writing while you were posting. One more thing about sedo, I've seen so many hundreds and hundreds of nice sales come out of there that I'm trying to learn to work with them. I think in the long run it will be worth it.

now is the time to work out where you stand in this industry and price accordingly , if your domain is only worth xxx accept it , sell it and then move on .....not much else you can do

although i would like someone else to clarify the make offer/ send to auction situation because there are better than lawyers when it comes to pricing

Certainly agree on count number two.

As far as establishing a price, first ... I'm no good at it. Second ... like antiques, a domain is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it. That's what stops me every time. Greed. If I could take that out of the equation I would consider that I paid $7.47 for 90% of everything I own and be happy with a $30 sale.

Length of time for Sedo to verify a domain??

So I submitted 16 names to Sedo 3 days ago. 15 of them are now verified, but the 1 remaining one still does not appear in the list, and I see a message above my list of domains that says "We are currently verifying the following domain names: cash/loan/centre(dot)com".

Any idea how long I have to wait? I parked this on Sedo and the parking ads show up when I visit the site. It seems strange that all but 1 of the names is verified even though I did everything the same for each name.

Most domains are verified within a few hours. I've also had domains that they were unable to verify for reasons unknown to me since they were at the same registrar as the others.
If it's a big deal, you could always contact their supprt to see why it's not successful.

most of the time, that domain is already reg'd via an old owner, so they have to verify manually, which could take weeks.

I see. Still waiting for 3 out of 27 names to be verified, even though I have unlocked the WHOIS information....they sent me an email a few days ago but haven't responded to anything I've written since.

What is the procedure when a seller accepts an offer from a buyer?

Have posted 3 messages within their site
2 emails plus a PM here and no response!

Cheers

Sedo reps don't seem to respond to their customers very often..anyway, thats old news.

Once the seller accepts an offer sedo will inform the buyer and ask them to make payment to sedo, once they have received the payment they will ask you to push the domain to sedo's transfer account, there is a setting in your control panel at sedo - go to > mysedo > Transfer centre where you follow their instructions or communicate with the sedo rep as the sale progresses.

The steps are:

1) Payment request created for buyer

2) Escrow payment received

3) Please push domain to Sedo account.

4) Domain transfer to Sedo account complete.

5) Credit note created

6) Payment took place!

Some sales take a few days, some take a few weeks....and some sales never complete.

That's the jist of it :)
