Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

With tax time fast approaching, we must take into account not only parking revenue, but also sales revenue over the year as well. I just gathered all of my sales data for the previous year and thought I would share with everyone how to easily view all of your transactions on Sedo.

To get a summary of all the domains you have sold for the entire year:

1. Go to Transfer Center

2. Sort by Closed transfers

3. You can copy and paste the text boxes neatly in excel by holding down the control key while you highlight the information you want to copy over.

Hi Sleepys,

Thanks for posting this. I would also like to note that Sedo does not issue 1099 forms for domain sales as we are an intermediary escrow agent in the transaction. You will need to gather this information from the buyer, whose information is located on the purchase and sales agreement.

This is good information to know. Thanks Stephanie.

I have a question.. Yes i am a newbie :)
Can i sell domains at Sedo without having them parked at Sedo? I have an account and i am certified.. Also how much is the selling fee for domains not parked at sedo? Is it still 10%?
Thanks for the answer :)

Hi,

Parking a domain is not a required part of listing it for sale on Sedoโ€™s marketplace. However, consider the top 3 reasons it pays to park a domain you have listed for sale:

1. Parking is free marketing. The chances of selling a parked domain are five times higher, as more than half of all offers are made by visitors to parked pages.

2. Parking saves you money. If a sales agreement is reached through our Online Marketplace, and the domain is parked, the minimum commission (link to FAQ 2408) fee can be avoided; only a flat 10% is assessed, making a huge difference for sales of less than 500 USD.

3. Parking adds value. Our members can access the domainโ€™s traffic data right from your Offer Page, making it easier to sell and negotiate through our site.

For domains not parked with Sedo, the domains are subject to a minimum commission fee, determined by the extension of the domain. You will be responsible for the minimum commission fee or 10% of the agreed sales price, whichever is higher. Below are the Minimum Commission fees and the corresponding extensions.

Minimum commission fee is 50 USD:

.com/.net/.org/.co.uk/.org.uk/.me.uk/.info/.biz/.us/.tv/.li/.be/.st/.dk/.de/.at/.ch/.name/.ws/.mx/.in/.cc/.to/.eu/.mobi/.nl/.es

*The minimum commission fee for domains with the above extensions may be waived if the domain is verifiably parked with Sedo for at least 32 days prior to a sale. This waiver applies to most countries.

Minimum commission fee is 100 USD:

.fr/.ca/.se/.pl/.com.ar

Minimum commission fee is 150 USD:

All other domain extensions not previously listed.

Stephanie,
When are sedo going to admit that there are serious problems since the maintainence downtime a week last Sunday.

I am having the following problems:

1) A true geo domain being rejected for the following reason: We're sorry, but we cannot allow you to add this domain to your account due to a potential violation of Sedo's policy against domains that include obscene or illegal subject matter. This is totally baffling as the exact same name in other ext's are already listed on sedo and the domain has no blacklisting history or any connection whatsoever to obscene or illegal subject matter.

2) Newly added domain not showing up in the optimizer page so I am unable to add keywords etc, but is showing as a sales page.

3) Paid featured domain not recording visits to the featured page.

Along with the accounts of long time sedo members suddenly being closed or suspended for no apparent reason and other issues, this is obviously connected to the maintainence work. Why is sedo not communicating this to it's members in order to give, at the very least, the perception that you are doing or trying to do something about it.

Hi Len,

You have not notified my of the first two issues listed. Please first keep in mind that your parked domains will only show up in the "Statistics" section of your Domain Parking once they have recorded statistics.

The domain however, should appear in the Domain Parking > Optimizer section. If it is not, send me the specific domain so I can look into the problem with your account.

Also, if a domain has been blocked from being listed, this is an issue I can also look into if provided with the information. The domain may have been blocked due violation of our Terms of Use by another member who previously had the domain listed. I can provide the specifics with the specific domain.

I have already addressed your third issue on this forum and via email after contacting our tech department. Any stats that have not been synchronized onto the affected offer pages should be updated tomorrow.

Furthermore, account closures are not the result of the website maintenance. They are the result of our Terms and Conditions being enforced.

Hi all:

I know that this has probably been addressed previously in this thread, but I have a really quick question. Thanks in advance for your help.

I always seem to have long delays in Sedo "verifying ownership" of added domains even though I change nameservers prior to adding, and my whois info on the domains agree with my sedo registration.

As the domain is not verified, I am unable to do any optimization on the parked page. And, even though Sedo hasn't "verified" ownership, the domain already resolves to a Sedo parked page.

My question. Who gets any revenue from clicks on this parked page prior to it being verified? Me or Sedo? Maybe this is why the verification process takes so long - even a few extra pennies to them over millions of domains could add up.

Just wondering.

Hi,

All of the domains entered into our database (which are a lot of domains) are subject to manual verification by our Security and Compliance staff to ensure that all of the domains are listed and being monetized on by their rightful owners, which may take up to a couple of days to process. Also, when there is a higher volume of additions to our database than usual this process may longer than the stated time.

If you feel the process is taking too long for you, you can always reach them at [email protected] for assistance.

Unfortunately, any possible revenue and statistics will not be recorded into your account until the domains have been verified for ownership. The name servers being pointed to Sedo's parking program does not automatically ensure ownership, the Whois information needs to be manually checked.

Ive been trying to get an answer from you people since the 18th of March, when do you think you will have time to provide me with some support concerning a sale gone bad?

My user name is vanasfield, someone better contact me today, Ive left a few messages in the domain transaction thingy but nothing, no replies, just being ignored like my previous sales transaction... I also tried the old support way, impatiently waiting...

Mike

PS : Dont contact me here, just fix the problem, thats my only concern right now...

Hi Mike,

You received a response from Ben:

"The buyer has several transfers at this time so I am unsure why they have not yet paid for this domain name. I have reached out to them regarding this so hopefully we will see payment in escrow within a couple days."

There are no other updates on the transaction at this time. Your Transfer Specialist will not provide any updates unless there are updates. Please also contact your Transfer Specialist directly regarding any transaction, via the Transfer Center, or by email [email protected], or via telephone Option # 2, if you have any further questions.

No kidding, I see/saw that too on the 18th... what I dont see is a follow up. You obviously saw what I wrote afterwards didnt you. Telling me there is no update doesnt work for me.

Did Ben speak/reach the client what did they say, are they sending the money, you cant just let it sit like that, it will never end, I want it to end TODAY!

Just cancel the sale, as far as Im concerned this buyer has breached the contract, the end, I want out! I also want his contact info.

I know Sedo wont do anything to this guy but I would sure like to hear his lame story as to why he bid, not once but 4+ times on my name and then just decided to blow it off like it never happened.

There are no updates in the transaction at this time. It does not like look as though there has been a response from the buyer. If there has been, there would be an update. Like I said, contact Ben directly for further information.

Our Transfer Specialists work on completing countless transactions everyday, and will provide updates in the transaction when there has been an actual update. They do not provide an instant message type of service. They are working to get the transactions done as soon as possible, and would like complete the transactions and have the payment be made just as much as you would.

Again, you can speak to one of our specialists via telephone if you need an immediate update.

I am updating the transaction myself, sale is null and void as of now, March 26th, 2009 11am EST., buyer did not pay within time allowed.

At this point in time I reserve the right to sell this name to whomever I choose, I have no valid/outstanding sales contract pending concerning this name with Sedo nor any other party. I have done my part in this transaction, the buyer has failed.

Apon cancellation I would like the buyers contact info as you say you will provide us with so we can take further action against this person as we see fit.

Please contact Ben to cancel this transaction and obtain the information requested.

This can not be canceled via this forum, you will need to communicate directly with your Transfer Specialist.
