Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

Why do you charge members higher fees for not having their domains pointed at the Sedo servers?
Is it just an easy way to scam a quick buck out of people who don't read over your TOS with a fine tooth comb.
I recently sold my first and last domain through you guys for $60 bucks. Due to the nameservers not being pointed at Sedo I made $10 you made $50
Care to respond to this?

Hi,

The commission fee covers the cost of our transfer and escrow service. We offer a flat 10% rate to our parking customers. This information is stated clearly on our Price List: http://sedo.com/services/prices.php3?tracked=&partnerid=&language=us.

I would recommend reading the Terms and Conditions of any website before using the services.

Hello,
recently i bought one .by domain name with Sedo. It`s my first experience buying domain with Sedo so i have few questions:
1. Is it necessary to request invoice from seller to start the transfer of the domain name?
2. Where i can find technical assistent info? And who is a technical assistent?
3. What are the next steps to transfer domain?
I asked these questions to my transfer agent but i did not receive an answer. My login is pibbz, domain name is aromat.by.
Thanks.

Hi,

1. It is not necessary to request an invoice, but you may do so for your records.

2. If you have a Technical Assistant for you domain transactions you would add or update your Technical Assistant’s information using the Transfer Center of your Sedo account. Your Technical Assistant can step in to handle certain aspects of the transfer on your behalf. To modify your Technical Assistant’s details, follow the steps below:

1. Log into your Sedo account.
2. Click on “Transfer Center” under the “My Sedo” menu.
3. Click on the domain name in question.
4. Select the “Transfer Details” tab.
5. Update the Technical Transfer Data/Technical Contact information.
6. Choose the delivery method for the Technical Assistant’s login information.
7. Save the updated information.

Once the details are saved, the Technical Assistant will need to confirm his/her email address. You will be informed if this email address is not confirmed within 48 hours.

3. Your Transfer Specialist is there to assist you regarding the next steps in the transfer process. If you have made payment for the transaction, you will just need to wait your Transfer Specialist obtain the domain from the seller. Once they are able to transfer the domain to your registrar, you will be informed of the next steps in the process.

Hi Stephanie,

For some time I have been unable to sort "Unique Views" and "Clicks" in descending order.

When I access "Domain Management" the view is alpha order with totals alongside each name, and totals down the bottom. However, when I click the arrows to "sort", the totals remain but each domain name shows zero views and zero clicks.

To give you a better idea I have attached two screenshots

Fig 1 shows what appears when I access Domain Management "My Overview"

Fig 2 shows what happens when I sort (using the arrows) The name at the top should show around 128

I have blanked out the names - just left the first letter.

Look forward to your response and a resolution.

Hi,

We have been informed this week of a bug in the synchronization of parking statistics in the Domain Management section. This problem should be resolved shortly.

However, the parking statistics are still accessible and synchronizing in the Domain Parking section of your Sedo account.

Hi Stephanie,

I sold today one .ms domain at sedo for $200 (sedo already informed me that funds already received), however in the menu I see that the Sedo charge is USD 150, not 10% (i.e. not $20). The domain I sold was constantly parked at sedo (I have sedopro account) for more than a year. Is it correct that you charge $150 or shall it be $20?

Thanks in advance for looking into this issue.

Cheers,
Vlad

This may be the case, due to the extension of the domain (.ms). However, I would recommend speaking with your transfer specialist about the issue. They may be able to adjust the price if we offer that service for the .ms extension.

Hi,

I have a question:

For example, I sold domain on Sedo. Is it possible to not show my name in the domain purchase agreement?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

As far as I am aware, that is not possible as it is a legal document.

I was parking my domains at Sedo for more than 2 years. But only 1.5 years ago I started to park many domains at Sedo. Currently I have about 4000 domains parked at Sedo. I was never in parking business and my main aim was to resell domains to end-users. I was mainly buying LLLL.com, LLLL.net, CVCV.info, nice LLLLL.com domains etc. My usual parking revenue was ~150 euro per month from 4000-5000 domains. Average click was 5 cents. Number of views was very huge. I knew that Sedo wasn't good with parking but I was satisfied because it seemed that Sedo parking helps me to sell my domains.

From starting of this month I noticed that my daily earnings dropped from 5 euro to 2 euro and then finally I received email from Sedo, that my account was closed with description "We recently received a notification from our advertising provider that a significant portion of the traffic associated with your domain names has been deemed as “spam traffic” and is therefore ineligible for Sedo’s parking program.".

also

"Therefore, your domain names have been blocked from our parking program, your parking revenue has been withheld, and your Sedo account has been closed pending further review."

I was trying to resolve this problem with their Specialist Security & Compliance but she replied me with templates without providing solutions.

So they locked my earnings (~150 euro) from previous month. I can't access to my account to respond to offers from end-users. One domain is in process of transfer. Also I didn't receive my money from recent end-user sale of one LLLL.net. And already almost for 1 week my domains are unaccessible to any end-user offers!!! Each week in average I had a sale of ~500$ domain. Who knows, may be this week I missed my sale... I know that my sales are not so big, so far I hasn't sold any multi $xxxxx domains, but still these small sales of my domains help me to withhold during declining market.

In other words they accused me that I'm spammer (because they didn't provided any other compromise) Being a spammer with 4000-5000 domains earning 150 euro per month with 5 cent clicks in average is a very profitable business in their thinking....

If there are any domains that you think traffic isn't good I'm ready to remove them! Why do you close the whole account while main business is to sell domains, not to earn from parking. But I can't check all my 4000 domains myself if they have or do not have any suspected traffic, as well as I don't know how to check if domain has bad traffic.

Some history:

I have sold 147 domains via Sedo for more than $43000 (for 1.5 years). Sedo commissions were more than 4300$ during this time. My total parking earnings for all time was just approx. 2500$ (for 2 years - just 350 domains renewals).

Now they ban me just because some of domains' traffic isn't converting good for them in the last month!

You may think that this problem is only mine. But I think that this is just beginning and anyone can be next victim of Sedo advertising partner. Who knows... may be I will sell next month one of my domains to you with "bad traffic", (I don't know which one of course) and your whole account will be banned!

I tried to add adult domain to sedo today - nothing special, just ordinary adult acronym, nothing illegal. That domain is already listed with sedo in 10 other extensions. And thats what I got -

****: We're sorry, but we cannot allow you to add this domain to your account due to a potential violation of Sedo's policy against domains that include obscene or illegal subject matter.

Can i get any explanation for that? I understand illegal subject thing, but whats with obscene? I think 70% of my sedo domain sales was adult, 'obscene' domains. Is there a new policy regarding adult domains at sedo or just filter glitch?

Perfect! from now on I'll assume everyone is trying to screw me over and not just Sedo :sold:

For every customer who bothers to complain, there are 26 others who remain silent.

The average “wronged” customer will tell 8 to 16 people.

91% of unhappy customers will never purchase services from you again.

It costs about five times as much to attract a new customer as it costs to keep an old one.

Each one of your customers has a circle of influence of 250 people or potential customers who hear bad things about you!

Congrats on a sound business model :hearts:

It could be that the domain was blocked in a previous user's account due to a violation of our Term of Use. If you PM with your account and the domain, I can look into the issue.

Urgent help request Sedo

I'm was a webmaster, had a tons of really good sites, my host got hacked and I just could not repair them/didnt have time/decide to give up on websites. All I wanted to do really was sell the domains and found sedo reccomended for this.
So first time ever - I decided to park and sell all the domains with sedo. Did so, also got offers for two domains that I accepted right away. I have been paid for one domain only by sedo so far. I have emailed them twice this week as domain reg say the domain is transferred away from me a week ago yet I have not been paid as yet.

Today, just got an email saying: After a more thorough examination of your traffic, our quality management team found that the traffic coming to your domain names was not natural (type in or related to search engine placement or past development). My account has now been closed? It is natural traffic, Ive never bought traffic or anything, ive been lucky to make $14 a week across all my 200 or so domains, how could I be accused of this?

Ive done nothing wrong, not promoted the domains at all since the sites were hacked and they were parked and I havent been paid for my domain sale and sedo has the domain now! Im stunned by this. Can you advise please? No one is responding to me by email from support, the account is closed I can no longer even log in. And sedo has control of my domain.

I earnt about $14 a week on 200 or so domains, (hardly huge money is it?) none had hugely high traffic, a few were domains I had bought a while back and had never even used on a site yet and had 0-5 clicks in 3 weeks! I don't get why sedo has done this to me, I am doing nothing to promote these domains at all and have done nothing wrong with them in the past either.

One of two were high traffic domains, but they were on good high traffic websites previously.

I spent 2 days setting this up and parking at sedo, wish I had not bothered.

Still no payment or conatct from sedo, Im now going to complain to my domain reg to see if they can do anything about this and complain to icann.

Tried to call sedo today, twice using contact details as per their site:
How to Contact Sedo
Mail: Sedo, GmbH
Im Mediapark 6
50670 Cologne
Germany
Telephone: +49 221.34030.230
Facsimile: +49 221.34030.102
