Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

Stephanie I posted a suggestion on a different board but in case you guys dont get it, I think there is a real demand for themed auctions like the dating auction held recently and other categories, I think there is a big demand for this type auction it could be held monthly at sedo where domainers submit there names for inclusion, I also would suggest accepting even mediocre names I think it would generate a big enduser involvement. Some suggested themes might be military, phones, travel, weather, green domains,pets/animals, cars, health insurance, diseases, medical, etc maybe even charge a small listing fee, I think it would bring a lot more interest to your site also. What do other domainers think, I like the idea but all my ideas are good LOL

I agree 100%!!! In fact, I made this very same suggestion to sedo about a year ago. To have themed auctions means you will attract many like-minded potential buyers, therefore creating a real competition in bidding....exactly what is needed, rather than a list of very random domains from all different categories.

I also believe that sedo needs to add a lot more graphics/photos for domainers to choose from for their sedo web pages. There are many categories that are very limited...example: no photos/graphics that apply to martial arts domains and many more.

A question I have, originally posted in another thread:

Silly question: When putting your keywords into the space provided in Sedo after having looked at keyworddiscovery, do you put the different results from keyworddiscovery in quotes or separate?

I.E. Results- Sparta, this is sparta, ancient city of sparta... Would I put "Sparta" "this is sparta" "ancient city of sparta" in my keyword area, or would I put sparta this is sparta anciety city of sparta.

Any help? Even when I try to separate the words/phrases by comma or place quotes are each individually, once I "save change" it goes back to all of the words in a constant string merely separated by spaces. Is this how it is supposed to be?

For Sedo, you want to pick one keyword or keyword phrase for optimizing. In your examples, choose either Sparta or Ancient City of Sparta, do not put it in quotes. You can use more keywords in the alternative language section and on the edit category section of the domain optimizer page.

You may want to try Google Adwords Keyword tool, in addition to, or instead of, Keyword Discovery. It will give you $$ estimates as well.

Thanks Sleepys,

I was wrong thinking you could use multiple phrases.

Great stuff, thank you!

EDIT: I'm not seeing the alternative language section... Where exactly is that located?

And when you are referring to the categories section, are you referring to where you can choose the difference pictures based on category? Thanks.

No problem. I think that it is possible to use multiple keyword phrases, but to truly get the best results on Sedo, you want the keyword to make sense. I think that because it uses Google ads, it syncs up well with Google Adsense and the results they show. One more thing to keep in mind. I was told by my previous account manager that the order of the wording in your keyword does matter. For example, "real estate" should produce entirely different results than "estate real". That is, if Google does not override the keyword based on the domain name itself.

If any of this is incorrect, please correct me Stephanie.

Don't know if you saw, but I had edited my previous post. Thanks for your help.

Those features are available on the "edit domain" link. It is used to edit a single domain at a time and has more features than the domain optimizer page. I find it from a button next to each name on the "domain list" page".

That being said, these features may just be available to Sedopro members, I'm not sure. The keyword rules I outlined above work the same for Sedo or Sedopro.

Has the recent drop in standards been due to improvements to your site ? I do have one gripe about your service which I think is an important one. The easiest way to upset your customers is to not offer an equal opportunity to your members. Obviously we cannot all own 1 word.coms and a large proportion of your business must be with mediocre domain names. However when it comes to selection of domains for your Top Domains Category, there is something seriously wrong with the selections. In June I looked through this category and was astounded at the number of poor quality domains accepted by your selectors.( at least 20). If these domains were posted in this forum they would be classed as reg fee or slightly above. If the excuse is that they are brandable, then that could apply to almost any domain name. To me this raises a few questions. 1) How do they pass the quality test. 2) Is there favouritism being shown to certain customers. 3) Do your selectors buy and sell domains on your site,(and if so do they own these dodgy domains). I have been in business for most of my working life and one thing I know is that you have to operate a fair playing field to continue being a top player. If you would like a list of the domains mentioned I can provide one. Your comments are eagerly awaited as communication with customer services about this matter received no response.

Our Brokerage Department makes the decisions as to what domains meet the standards of a Top Domain. Our brokers have experience in brokering top sales in our marketplace. As employees of Sedo, they do not buy or sell domains themselves. Sedo also does not own any of the Top Domains.

To be approved for Top Domains, your domain(s) should meet most of the following requirements:

ยป The domain is short, a real word and is easy to remember
ยป It is a generic domain, e.g. like car.com, creditcard.com or books.com
ยป The domain is easy to spell and not prone to typographical errors
ยป The domain is product-related and therefore has a high commercial value
ยป The domain doesnโ€™t violate any third party rights (e.g. trademark rights)
ยป The TLD geographically matches the language of the domain name

If approved by Sedo's brokers, your domain will be marked with a small yellow circle with a black "T" in the center. If not approved, your domains will not be subject to this icon.

Thanks Sleepys!

To xlb57:

When selecting Keywords, and multiple words are chosen, our ad providers will choose the advertisement feeds based on the logical order. And if many words are chosen, our providers will choose phrases where the keywords overlap, which may result in irrelevant advertisements being displayed.

Also, you can browse the "How to choose money-making keywords" section of our website for further information:

Has anyone else noticed that it's currently not possible to view the sales listings of domains at Sedo? I'm getting a blank page for all domains that aren't in auction. Even the featured domains show as blank and it doesn't matter whether I'm using IE or Firefox.

Thanks for your reply Stephanie, but I think this kind of stock answer to questions is very condescending. Just posting the list of your requirements does not explain why these domains are in there. Obviously it would not be fair to mention any domain names on the forum but when they have not one search result at google, and using any appraisal methods you care to utilize they still come up as very low value domains, then something is wrong when they are listed as a Top Domains.

I noticed this as well. They are currently updating the format of sales listings so I guess they are updating them gradually. The occasional domain works!

Hello,

If I am a member of sedopro.com, how can I invite other members to join SEDOPRO?

In parked.com there is this link called referral. In sedopro, what should we do?

Hi,
As I am not a domain broker, and I do not work in Sedo's Brokerage Department, I do not make these decisions, nor am I qualified to assess a domain's value. I would recommend you contact our brokers directly at [email protected] with any specific inquiry, and they will be able to better assist you.

Hi,

Please communicate with your SedoPro account manager, as they will be able to assist you specifically with your account in order for you to receive credit for your referrals.

Stephanie, please read my earlier post. Already asked the questions. Same stock answers giving list of requirements and no explanation. You should all be politicians at sedo, experts at not answering the question.

parking figures.

My "views of offer" figures are going down. A few of my domains have lower views of offer amount than they did yesterday. i.e yesterday 330 - today 302. Anyone else having the same ?
