Hi All! :hi:

By request, we've decided to start a thread dedicated to Sedo. We're looking for invaluable insight into what domainers want and need out of our parking program (and marketplace, of course).

Questions, comments, suggestions, tips are welcome! We're hoping this will be a great discussion about what works at Sedo and what might not (please be constructive and respectful to others in your feedback) so that everyone involved can benefit and learn from it.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas! Happy Holidays!

Always,
Keith
(on behalf of Sedo)

categorizing newly added names on sedo actually sucks. There aren't enough categories, and its just not very effective.

Hi Guys.

Today I purchased my first domain! makemusics dot com.

I am hoping to flip this on Sedo and on recommendation I went over and signed up with Sedo.

I followed the steps to list the domain and filled in all the relivent details. It shows up in the My Sedo section under My domains but does that mean that it's actually listed in the marketplace? If someone could please let me know that would be great!

Many thanks in advance!

You're an interesting one.

I think the domain name is not great - the plural makes no sense.
At Sedo unless it's FIXED AND PARKED.. commission is minimum of $50 meaning that you'd have to sell at $60 to break even on a hand-reg.

It's not going to happen. (though that's an Opinion and not Fact !)

But then here's the weird bit.

Your website is better than 90% of those I've seen from NPers that are parked/mini-sited because it's obviously something you care about.

Why do you want to flip? Why not actually USE it?

I am really upset with Sedo.

For a company that won't accept obscene domain names, you sure do run a lot of porn links on domains that your advertiser deems as "Adult Sites."

For some reason, my squeaky clean domain name has been designated as an adult site, and I'm really ticked off. My domain is a generic, business-type name, not a porn name (which you don't accept anyway). I'm not revealing my name here because I have no wish to (1) support the porn industry, and/or (2) make money from it.

I do NOT want my name associated with the pornography industry. How DARE you and your advertisers make assumptions about the kind of advertising I want pumped into my parking pages, when I have clearly set business-type keywords.

I am adamently opposed to smut because it's demeaning and disrepectful of women, and I want no part of it.

Whoever (from Sedo) is monitoring this thread, please tell your bosses that if they want to pump porn links into their parking pages, then STOP being hypocritical and start accepting adult domain names and leave regular domain names alone.

I have sent an email to [email protected] to request that my domain be reclassified as non-adult name.

This was already explaind to you in another thread, but you continue to complains about that, now in two threads.
Sedo is not marking your names 'adult'. They are marked by their ad provider. This system is automatic, and mistakes can happen. You agreed on all that when you accepted their TOS when parking domains.
If you think your domain is flagged bad, request manual classification via email. If you are offended by their adult program, find another parking provider who doest not support adult ads.

They are accepting adult names.
The name you are talking about probably had some content in the past which brake their TOS. Or it was mistake. Simple email should be enough to straith things out. But me (and other forum members) already wrote this to you on another thread. If you become bored again, you can open 3rd thread with same questions :)

Not true. Take a look at the Shagging.us thread, if you don't believe me. If the name is deemed "too obscene," they turn it down. Instead, they give up content control of their ad stream, who then decides to put objectionable content on ordinary domain names. What kind of business plan is that?

And I WILL continue to complain, no matter what YOU, MatthewP, or anyone else says. I don't want to be associated with porn. I do not choose adult domains, just for that reason, and don't want my name associated with it.

I already sent an email, but Sedo is slow in answering (other than the automated email), so I decided to take this conversation to this SEDO thread (and away from the shagging thread, where it didn't belong), where hopefully someone from SEDO will answer my thread. If you don't like my complaint, ignore it.

OK, I'll quote what I wrote to you at shagging thread and this thread. Third luck.

It happend to me couple of times with sedo and adult domains (same error messsage OP got), but the reason domain was blacklisted with sedo was its content (web sites that was built on those domains before I bought them had illegal/suspicious content).

I wrote to sedo and they allowed me to list them when they saw I am the new owner and sites are gone.

It has nothing to do with shagging (there are 7 "shagging" domains with other extension listed for sale on sedo) , same can happen with any domain. Quote from Shagging thread:

sedo would not add lcry.com for the same reason, I wonder why.

If you dont want to be associated with porn, best way is not to park domain with providers who have adult ad streams. Simply as that. End of discussion from my side :hi:

Not sure what is going on with this transaction on SEDO.

I agreed to sell a domain on SEDO on 4/21 -

Apr/21/10 -

Payment request created for buyer

We have created a payment request for the buyer and requested payment from him/her. The transfer will commence upon receipt of this payment.

then payment is listed as received -

Apr/22/10 -

Escrow payment received

Payment has arrived in Sedoโ€™s escrow account.

then I logged into my account and see the transaction has been canceled with no notice or explanation -

Apr/22/10

Transaction canceled by Sedo

The transfer has been canceled. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us. Many thanks for your cooperation.

I submitted a ticket via support and got a pretty stock answer to contact my agent via the Transaction Status interface. I did and still have no idea what is going on. I think it is a little odd to have a transaction canceled for an unknown reason after payment was received.

SEDO's communication leaves a lot to be desired.

That's very strange as funds had been received. A more concise explanation from Sedo is definitely required in this instance.

This has happened to me twice in the past few years. Each time it was Sedo canceling the transaction because of what they told me was a "security issue".

In both cases I assumed that they received funds from a credit card or financial account that they had deemed to be untrustworthy. And that Sedo believed there was a high chance of the funds transfer being scrubbed, or the charges reversed, or investigated later as a fraudulent transaction, etc.

Does bmugford know the buyer's country of origin? Maybe that might be a clue.

Buyer's country of origin:
United States

I just got this email from SEDO

"A status update with the subject of "Brokerage agreement reached."

Now while the original transaction is still canceled the same domain for the same price is listed under "Running Transfers" with this status

Domain Sold. Transfer in progress.
Brokerage agreement reached.

Interesting.

Brad was it auctioned after negotiation?

It was just a straight sale after a few counter offers. There was no auction involved.

It is also not really a high dollar sale either.

Just an update.

I still have no idea what happened with the original transaction, but the new "Brokerage Agreement" transaction for the same domain and price has been paid for and the domain has been transferred.

Edit: Problem solved now. They didn't say why it happened though. They just said sorry for the mistake.

I have weird problems at Sedo.

I just sold a domain at sedo with fixed price. The buyer made the payment. Sedo send me an email. So far everything looked fine but when I logged in to my sedo account things started to change.

Firstly, I found two messages by a transfer agent. The first message is a standard message I would expect to see but the second one is written in French. Why would the transfer agent suddenly change language from one message to another?

In the French message goes like this: (I changed the email)

Sedo Transfer Agent
pourriez-vous รฉgalement dรฉsactiver la privacy protection qui masque lยดadresse email des contacts, actuellement 625yagatsracjฤฑ[email protected], qui vous empรชchera de recevoir et valider la demande de transfert.

The problem is, this is not the admin email. There if no privacy protection. Furthermore the domain is not registered at gandi.net. It is at enom.

Another problem is the sedo transfer status page shows the domains at registered at gandi. It also asks for EPP code. What happened to the old system where I could select the registrar myself? This is completely rubbish. The domain isn't at gandi and less than 60 days have passed since creation date so they shouldn't ask me for EPP code since the transfer request will be rejected.

Did you have similar problems like this? It looks like sedo uses an outdated whois server.

It takes me about an hour to work up a counter offer price for one of my domains. So, therefore, I am reluctant to make counters to every $60 low-baller that comes along. So I get piles of reminder e-mails. There is a chance that a buyer will raise his offer or that a second buyer will make a serious offer on the same domain, and I will never see it among the reminders.

I hope Sedo emails buyers who submit bids that are not responded to that the reason is probably that the offer is much too low.

accentnepal,
You can set different minimum offer prices for each of your domains. It doesn't have to be $60.

0
•••
@accentnepal: as stated by Erdinc, by setting a minimum offer limit for each domain, lower offers won't be accepted by the system.

Correct - The customer is apprised of the minimum if he bids under it. Then he is angry when you counter-offer when he bids the minimum.

The best answer, I guess, is to use fixed price. And never know about those who would have paid a little less and be regretful when Microsoft buys your domain for $200.

Setting prices takes time and I have been reluctant to do it while the market is changing so quickly.

Hello,

Is there a way to make the fixed price appear on the landing page?
