I received an unsolicited PM from NP member myblow offering free hosting, no strings attached. Upon investigation, it became evident that member myblow is no other than banned member hasif, who had previously hacked into another NP member's account. Hasif was probably hoping that I would be foolish enough to signup using my NP password, which he would then use for his nefarious ends.

At any rate, if you received a similar PM from him and accepted his offer, please take care to use a unique password. If you already gave him your favorite password, then change your passwords before its too late.

- Apollo

P.S. Member myblow now also banned.

I always use different passwords whenever I sign up at different websites, thanks for the headsup! Hopefully other members here won't make the mistake of using same passwords at other websites.

If someone offered me free hosting just out of the blue, I wouldnt even responde to them, as they must have a reason for it, and that reason will never be a good one. I have heard stories that these type of people will make backups of others sites and scripts, then use them for their own sites.

Thanks for the warning.

He gained access to the NP account because the same password was used in his forum.

:lol: No website is "high enough to prevent hacking". However, NP security is high enough for our needs.

The easiest way to hack into an account is to convince the target to simply give you his password (called "social engineering"). Just maintain a healthy level of paranoia, and you'll never be a victim this way.

okay great :)

So y ban myblow?
since its not hasif {he "hacked" it}
Y not email myblow and tell him to change the pas {or change it for him} and warn him not to use the same pass or something :)

myblow is hasif. He is offering free hosting to again lure people into revealing their passwords.

The hacking i referred to happened some time ago, to another NP member.

I'm sure the Admins have already banned his IP, but unfortunately there are always ways around this. People use proxies to come back to this forum under new names whenever they're banned.

That will probably block more legitemate users than banned members.
