I was checking a websites whois info and it says:
Repossessed by Go Daddy
Meanwhile the expiration date is 2020 and the site is operational.

What are the scenarios where this happens?

That is what the whois looks like. all godaddy info.
Posting the actual website is probably not a good idea.
