The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
.US domains.US domains
What made you renew 3 years ? So you normally renew all names?
I renew the names i like and i think have potential. im not going to drop a name if it doesn't sell in a year, if i think it has appeal i will renew it, I do not renew all names just the ones i can see selling in time :)

nice, ive tried that even with BIN's as low as $100 which would leave me with $40 after their ripoff fees. Still no luck, end up letting them drop.

do you redirect your traffic to the lander? or people just find you on their market? is it bin only or bin+makeoffer.. cause the latter is totally wacko on sedo.. and you can't actually do instant bin on bin+make offer listings... which is just ridiculous design work.

I don't redirect my domains at any marketplace, I use Efty landing pages. People just find them at Sedo.com or probably their partner registrars. It's BIN only atm but I am changing all to BIN+MakeOffer now

ok ty for info
as I said, changing it to bin+makeoffer is a real bad idea. cause ability to instant buy then, basically disappears. someone was drunk at sedo when they designed this. gl

also until recently at least... buy now + make offer used to not show up when people search domains with bin.... another genius programming. Pretty sure it's still the case. I had contacted their support.. and they had generic answers that didn't make sense.

TicketPickers /// .com $599

Incoming $100 from "a poor college student"

I was asking $750 and it took over a month to complete the negotiations. I had to sit quietly for most of that time, not following up, waiting him out.

purchased it 3 years ago and no other inquiries until now.

@platey Appreciate the input, that's definitely part of what drew me towards the name to begin with.

@pokainc Thanks for the constructive feedback. This was one of my first purchases and with those came a few that were unmistakably poor decisions so much of that dissatisfaction likely poured over into my approach on this name. These types of sales though definitely continue to boost my confidence on future purchases and give me enough foresight to have patience when selling. Thanks again!
Hey NP,

I have a couple small sales to report. The first was through Sedo, details below...

Domain: L/o/n/d/o/n/A/r/c/h/e/s
Extension: .com
Marketplace: Sedo
Sale Date: November 22, 2017
BIN: $95
Expired/dropped reg: $13
Net: $22 ($60 Sedo comission)

The second sale was through Afternic. At first I received an email that someone had initiated a PayPal transaction through my Efty lander for this domain. I eagerly waited for confirmation that the transaction had completed. After thirty minutes or so I started to assume the buyer backed when suddenly I received an email from Afternic that the domain had sold via their fast transfer for $50. Not too sure why the buyer chose to purchase through Afternic (especially when the domin was listed at half the price on Efty lander), but I guess they were just more comfortable with a reputable marketplace. Details below...

Domain: F/r/e/e/S/t/u/d/y/C/o/u/r/s/e
Extension: .com
Marketplace: Afternic
Sale Date: December 12, 2017
BIN: $50
Expired/dropped reg: $13
Net: $22 ($15 Afternic comission)

It's funny how both sales netted the same amount from different matketplaces.

Thanks,

Because London arches is perfect for er the arches in London that are converted in to business units and posh expensive flats etc

For anyone buying uk area property domain names etc here are a couple of tips that may help you sell your domain names for much more than you think you can

Always type your property area domain name in to Google and click on Google images to get an idea what the area is like that your domain name refers to so you can see the type of property etc

And if your domain name refers to a specific area in London and or leafy parts of Surrey and Berkshire and South bucks etc do yourself a favour and increase your prices significantly because as a rule the potential buyer won't be skint they will have quite a few quid as a rule

And always type the domain name of the uk property area in to zoopla.co.uk which will give you a guide as to the value of the property that your domain refers to and you'll see just how expensive London in particular and the uk generally are and that way you'll sell your quality UK property area dot com domain name for a good few quid to those who are prepared to pay a good few quid for it

Don't sell yourself short not with London digital property eg domain names

Just a tip as seeing far too many quality property area in uk being sold far far too cheap

Ledger dot org ... $30k

Inbound email via hypernames.co
Bought on Sedo for $6k on 16/11/17 (seller began an auction using my counter-offer, but no other bids)

---

22nd Nov: I got the domain into my account and set up a landing page on hypernames.co - with an asking price of $45k. Had a couple of inquiries within the first few days, but nothing serious.

28th Nov: I had a five-figure inbound offer (via a broker). I countered at $30k, which was accepted.
The Escrow transaction recently completed, and the buyer was revealed as a well known crypto brand, manufacturing hardware wallets.

It's a great fit for them, so I'm surprised they didn't bid against me when the domain was on auction.
My guess is that it was flagged to them after my purchase price was published on Namebio.

Could have pushed harder but the returns are satisfactory in relation to the timeframe (six days).

---

Sharing my research process (for pre-purchase rationalisation) with everyone here:

- I downloaded the ICOTracker database from Coindesk to analyse the use of different TLDs and keywords within the crypto space (which gave me confidence to risk the .org extension)
- Manually scraped LinkedIn, Twitter and Crunchbase to reference the use of the term 'ledger' and 'distributed ledger' in company names and descriptions
- Used a keyword tool for search data and SERP ranking difficulty for those same terms
- Manual parse through Google using 'site: ledger' for existing domains that contain the word ledger
- Namebio, DnJournal and Namepros for seeing the crypto niche trending for domain sales.
- Usual searches to see what's happening on www.ledger.* (about 25 other extentions)
- A few days of deep reading, using CTRL+F to keep an eye out for the word (50+ articles across BBC, FT, Medium, Wired, Coindesk, Blockgeeks, etc)

My counterpoints for arguments against the investment (or for limiting the investment) mapped out as:
- Namebio data for .org sales (within the last year), showed low probability of selling above $15k.
- I had no experience of ever buying and selling .org beforehand. My early expectation was to hold the domain for at least a few years.
- The term ledger exists as a trademark within publishing - theledger//com (ledger media group), patriotledger//com, etc
- I was actually nervous that the company called Ledger was already using ledgerwallet//com. They also own ledger//fr and ledger//co. At the time, I saw this negatively as a potential UDRP threat and not as opportunity.
- Google Trends showed no significant uplift patterns for the search term over either the last 12 months or five years
- Although SERP difficulty was 59/100, KWFinder showed that PPC competition and resulting CPC were both very low.

Final profits also took a small hit because I hand-regged around 100 other related .COM and .CO domains throughout the above process.

Would love to claim some special intuition or foresight - but the truth is that I did a little bit of homework, took the chance and somehow got incredibly lucky on timing! Congrats to the buyer and a big thank you to the broker - not sure if I'm allowed to name them but they were super professional.
Congrats Nikul, I know that you have sold a few xxxxx domains this year, but in the same time I know that you have bough a few xxxx domains. I wonder if you want to share how this is working out for you, I mean that you could have easily xxxxxx profit in a year but in the same time you could loose money in a certain years, depending how much you pay for your names.

If he won't buy a few domains for xxxx, he won't be making xxxxx selling them.

The idea is how many xxxx names you need to buy to have one xxxxx sale? If you buy 2 domains for which you pay 5k each and you sell one domain for 30k, than is great, instead if you buy 10 domains at 5k each and sell one domain for 30k than you loose money.

If you buy a domain at xxxx it will have some liquidy and value anyday so loosing money option is less

There are tens of examples of domains bought for xxxx and even xxxxx, which were sold for up to 90% less...also as example, there was a guy Steve, who bought in 2014-2015 over 200 one word .co domains, paying xxx-xxxx for each of them, but lost over 100k because of this. So, you need to know what you buy, it's not 100% sure that if you pay xxxx you will make money.
