Had a small sale:

So this was slightly interesting for me. The domain originally expired and I was planning to drop it. While it was in RGP, I received an offer of $20. Now I wasn't planning to extract the domain from the previous registrar for a mere $5 profit (GD Min fees is $15) and factoring in my purchase price, I'd actually earn nothing. So with nothing to lose, countered it with a $299. The buyer reverted with a $125 counter to my counter which I accepted. I wasn't out of the woods yet as 28 days of the RGP had already passed. So I called the previous registrar and asked them to allow a transfer. They demanded a $50 restoration fee to do that. Fortunately, showing them the ICANN rules made them see sense and they restored the domain without any charge. It took over a week for the domain to be transferred and confirmed by GD support and another week for payment to finally hit.

Phew.. Sorry for the long story but this was an interesting experience and a nice profit where I was going to suffer a small loss. Thank you for reading through

Ps. After GD fees, I should have received $100 but I only received $95. No idea where the $5 disappeared

Lesson: Always counter, if you accept straight away, buyer will think they've made a high offer and will back down from their offer.

It's always good to counter otherwise price might drop along the line. I have experienced the same

If not counter, balk at the offer or if planning to accept first say you will talk the offer over with partner..etc. Sometimes it's good to add a stipulation like accepting the offer only if they pay the escrow fees or something else creative.

even more so great for you that buyers and visitors just trust a paypal payment button on a forsale page.. I don't think this happens for all domain sellers.. credible/professional website design may contribute to that.. so more power to you. may I ask out of curiosity from your past sales, what is the highest sale that someone just clicked the paypal bin button and paid on your site directly?

and when paid via paypal in this way, do you ever have concerns or take special precautions after sale, to ensure no issues like chargebacks via paypal etc?
