Visited TDNAM today and got forwarded to http://auctions.godaddy.com

TDNAM is replaced by "GoDaddy Auctions"

I'm a big fan of GoDaddy as I have made a lot of money through using their products and services but I have never been a fan of their habit of using cheap domains like TDNAM.com.

Do you think that they had a good purpose to using a poor quality domain for their auction site or was it a mistake?

It always bugs me when I see high profile companies using poor quality domains. It just seems like such a waste.

looks like it, it's redirecting to auctions... here as well, if tdnam drops (if they will allow) that will give out a lot of traffic.

TDNAM as a brand was pretty awful. This makes more sense, having their auction service under the GoDaddy brand.

they also have DomainAftermarket.com and DomainNameAftermarket.com, both redirected to auctions.godaddy

I never did like the TDNAM name, however I'm not sure how much of an improvement going with a subdomain is :|

Personally, I would have liked to have seen Godaddy buy Aftermarket.com back when it was on auction a few months back.

SnapNames is rolling out "Buy it Now" features. They should just merge the two.

I always thought this was an absolutely horrible name, especially considering all the prime domains they have access to. Kind of makes you wonder what they were thinking in the first place.

working on a portfolio site on idam.com, internetdomainaftermarket ;)

Very smart move. GoDaddy is a well known brand, and auctions fit well into their line of product offerings.

Yes.... the name sucks, but which one will you type in the address bar in the future.....even if they do a redirect? I'll type TDNAM.com b/c it is shorter.

I still use Whois.sc instead of going to DomainTools.com. It's either laziness or impatience or both that makes me do it.......hence the high price of short domains b/c most of us gravitate to brevity in domains.

GoDaddy is only two extra characters

In regards to DomainTools, length isn't everything - for me a .com domain, even if longer, is easier for me to remember.

I never liked the name TDNAM either. Good riddance. GoDaddy may be a little longer but for anyone new, it's a lot easier to remember.

Going by a recent article maybe they should change their name to
TMNAM.com :tri:
