Rate increase at IN registry

I have unconfirmed info from a fairly reliable source that IN registry ResellerClub is going to increase renewal rates for all dot in names, this includes dot co-in and all other third level extensions.

The amount is said to be 20c which is not extreme... but for people with thousands of names this is going to be substantial.

Just thought I'd let you all know, you can still renew today and maybe tomorrow at the old rates... I've already started on mine... recommend you do the same.

20 cents? It's nothing. :)

20c x 500 domains = $100/yr

20c x 1000 domains = $200/yr

20c x 5000 domains = $1000/yr

very sneaky ... reduce the price to get more registrations, then bump up the renewal price soon afterwards.

INsightful and correct. Also, thats why i advised a few people who were reggin in/.co.in to register them for 2 years at once. most of my .co.in(s) are regged for 2 years, so that won't affect me this year when they bump up the price.

ALso, this is especially bad for .in. Its renewal price is already overpriced, and they've added a little cream on top of that. price is the most important factor in most markets and businesses, and this is another little reason tthat will stunt .in's growth.

mmmmm - ResellerClub prices for .in going up 17th Jan:

"The sole reason for this price hike is the exchange rate fluctuations which unfortunately cannot be waived off."

My costs are going up around 50 cents per name.

I agree with the previous poster ... theres no reason at all for .in to be twice the price of third level .in names.

Well, the good news - its only .in, not third level.

The bad news is at my slab its $1 which would get passed on as is to resellers and almost $2 to end users.

I'm a little surprised its only 50c for you ekal, even if you're with reseller club directly. I'd recommend you check again.

So the impact will be 5x what I thought it would. This is bad for big portfolio holders.

I honestly think the time has come for a domainer owned registrar.

Dear Reseller,

The pricing for renewals and transfer-ins for second level .IN domain extensions will be increased by a few cents on 17th Jan, 2007 at 1000 hours GMT. The sole reason for this price hike is the exchange rate fluctuations which unfortunately cannot be waived off. However, keeping your best interest in mind, the pricing has been kept as low as possible so that we can offer you the best and stand by our policy of offering competitive pricing.

Also, we hope you are making the most of all our extended promotions. There are a lot of other exciting offers that you can anticipate in the near future. So stay tuned for more.

Competitive my left n*t, considering the registry gets less than half. And their promotion is as good as over imho.

Recalculating .... Slab 3 for me = a rise from $12.99 to $13.79 .... 80 cents per domain

This is a very quick way to lose the ground that .in has been gaining recently

I'm one slab higher and my raise is $1 :'(

Come to think of it, it doesn't really matter... considering the value of each domain and our projected renewal for three years... total difference will be $6k, so we'll eat it, since each domain will be worth at least mid-high $xxx then.

I'm all renewed till April, my biggest month till Nov-Dec, so thats a small saving right there. :)
