I dont get it. Why are there so many haters out there? Show me another tld that has had the success of mobi within its first 6 months. Everybody wants to invest in 50 different tlds that are all made for the pc but when it comes to the one tld that will represent the mobile web they all get stirred up.

You say there is no need for the .mobi ext to access the mobile web. Thats a load of crap. I guess all the companies investing in mobi right now dont know what they are doing. Oh thats right their only worth billions but cant see whats best for their future. Somebody should tell Microsoft, Vodafone, Samsung, Nokia... that they are all wasting their time and money on a worthless cause. Please!!!

If you are not for mobi, thats cool, keep investing wherever you see fit. I hope you dont have regrets though when mobi is side by side with .com. It will happen just give it time.

Ok. I will admit it, I have a problem with .mobi

Now, is .mobi experiencing sucess on the reseller markets? Yes. Are there some very nice sales going on, yes. Is there value in the tld, yes.

BUT!!!!

My biggest gripe with .mobi is how I feel its uneccesary. It is possible to redirect dot com traffic that is comming from a mobile device. Many sites do it. If I access GoDaddy.com from my mobile device, it simply pulls up a streamlined version of it, also if I pull up TMZ.com, it pulls up a mobile version of that as well.

But notice that I dont type in .mobi - I dont need to. And no, I am not forwarded to the .mobi on either site. Infact, whats to stop a subdomain from becomming the mobile version of the site instead of another address?

So why is it neccesary for a new TLD when redirection is possible?

So, in my opinion (be it wrong or right) .mobi sales are inflated. I do believe they will be comming back to reality within the year.

I am tired of seeing other threads where people basically say that mobi is worthless. I have seen it too many times.

My point is, people should respect others decisions on the choices they make. We all see things a little different but we dont have to cut each other down. I just wanted to speak my mind, thats all. I dont mean to offend anyone.

How would you feel if you spent time and money on something you believed in and someone came along and told you it was worthless?

I see your point, but why then is any other tld necessary except .com. It opens up other avenues for the consumer to benefit IMHO. Thanks for the kind reply.

Many mobi haters have been buying NNN and LLL secretly, maybe that was part of the strategy or they just saw an oportunity.

With so many investors now i'm sure .mobi will be heard for the next 2 years at least.

I dont think as many TLD's that exist are neccesary. Im simply questioning the value of this TLD. I can question the value of several TLDs - but discussion is about .mobi

I personally agree that you could redirect the traffic from .com to .mobi just like people want to redirect .mobi to .com (depending on pc/mobile of course). But like it or not, the .mobi domain is here. Regardless of anyone's opinions, you can't ignore the larger companies that are backing this domain.

So I see both arguements.

I decided awhile ago that I would buy a handful of .mobi's, develop a few, and maybe be part of something big then to be on the sidelines and not buy any. I may loose a little bit of money but then again, I may make a little bit of money. If the .mobi domain fails, I wouldn't regret saying "I gave it a shot". If the .mobi is a success, I would regret saying "Geez, I wish I would have gave it a shot". Cheers :-/

Well if you are saying mobi is useless since its not necessary then you ARE pretty much saying that any TLD is worthless except for .com. Why is .net necessary when you can just type in .com? Why is .org necessary when you can just use .com?
