When you are selling a domain instead of giving out your paypal email address can you give out your merchant id instead? Will that work?

How long after a domain expires do you have to renew it for regular renewal pricing? Let say for Godaddy and is different for other registrars? Also how long after expiration can you transfer a domain name to a different registrar?

At GoDaddy, you can renew at regular pricing until the domain is taken out of your account on day 18. Most registrars give you around 30 days. Some give you less.

ICANN rules say that being an expired domain should not be any impediment to transferring a domain to another registrar. I've been experimenting with this at GoDaddy. The longest I've transferred out a domain is 39 days after expiry. But I'd say you can probably transfer out for the full 45 days after expiry, when the registrar renewal is reversed by the registrar, and the domains goes into the 30 day plus 5 days pending delete cycle at the registrar. But there are some registrar who probably still ignore ICANN rules.
