TDNAM questions

Tried running a search, but couldn't find what I'm looking for. I just have a couple questions about TDNAM and purchasing from there.

1. How does payments work when you purchase a domain from TDNAM? Let's say I buy a closeout for $5. Do I send the money to the domain owner, or to GoDaddy? If GoDaddy, can you pay using a gift card?

2. What happens after you purchase a domain from there? Does GoDaddy handle the transaction or does the owner of the domain?

3. Do you have to purchase a year of registration with the domain you buy from TDNAM?

Please help! Thanks a bunch! :)

You pay godaddy, not sure about the GC but I would imagine so.
Purchases get a year of reg added

When buying on TDNam - payment is always to TDNam. For $5 close-outs the owner has dropped the domain so they get nothing out of the transaction.

Never tried gift cards but I would assume they would work.

You pay TDNam. The owner is then instructed by TDNam to deliver the domain to the new owner. You then work directly with the seller to send them them the transfer/push details. If the seller fails to deliver within 30 days you complain to TDNam and your money will be refunded.

Of course if its an expired name you get the name directly from TDNam.

Only if its an expired name or if you want to transfer the domain from a different registrar to GoDaddy.

Closeouts and expired.
If you get a .com use discount code gdbb776 and get $2 off the price. Keep in mind you must pay an annual $4.95 fee to belong to TDNAM and purchase. You also have to pay the reg fee so a .com bought in the $5 closeouts is $15.19 before using a discount code. Add the $4.95 fee and use the discount code and you still are $18 and change.

Of course the $4.95 fee is only once per year. Any other .com's will be $13.19 with the discount codes.

I've had only hit or miss luck with discount codes for other extensions on TDNAM auctions.

One last thing, when you buy an expired or close out the reg fee is from when the domain expired, so you really only get 10 or so months on the registration.

Thanks for all of the info everyone.

Would still like more information on purchasing from gift cards with TDNAM; specifically with closeouts, can anyone help?

Thanks r72gs

So the $4.95 fee is for signing up whether you buy or sell?
(I just signed up to sell a domain and paid the $4.95 for the year,
do I pay it again if I buy?)

and the renewal fee is for any domain I buy?

The gift cards look interesting, but I'll wait on those responses as well.

Buy or sell one fee, much as you want for the year.

Renewals, I think just on expired or closeouts,

Don't know abou the gift card but the site says the are good for anything on GoDaddy.com

Always look for discount codes befor eyou buy something, I almost always find a code that works.

I've never been able to get any of the GoDaddy coupons to work on TDNAM buys/regs although I've only ever bought the $5 closeouts.

Never any error or explanation, the page just refreshes and the price remains the same. There is a note on the payment page that says coupons are not applicable to discounted products, so maybe GoDaddy considers those closeouts as discounted products.

gdbb776 just worked for me yesterday on a $5 closeout .com. Took $2 off. This code only works on .coms.

After you confirmed that they work on the closeouts, I just went and figured out why I haven't been able to get them to work. It seems that the GD shopping cart is not bright enough to apply the coupon codes on individual line items. :]

- I added a $5 .com to my shopping cart, applied the coupon and it worked...the price dropped.
- Then I hit the 'keep shopping'.
- I added a .org to the same shopping cart. Adding the .org nullified the .com coupon even though the .com was still in the shopping cart.
- Removed the .org, again applied the coupon to the lone .com. It worked.

I work with quite a few non-profits so pick up applicable .org names to hold for future use. Guess from now on I'll just separate the com/org transactions so that the coupons work.

GoDaddy will give $1 off each domain if you buy 5 or more. That may work for your .orgs.

So if I sold a domain on TDNAM, I'll have to transfer the domain name before I receive the payment?

the GD shopping cart is very complicated and crazy, sometimes to reg .com you simply go to google.com , type in godaddy and you`ll get the special price link for new .com reg

and for bulk purchases some codes are better then others, same when you mix different extensions.....all you have to do is try and try till you know what`s best for you.

The reason behind that is that with the shopping cart the "sale" domain names once placed in the cart will supersede any and all discount codes to allow for the "sale" price. This being the case though the cart can be manipulated a million different ways. The issue with that though is the cart will always side with Godaddy. And nine times out of ten will change things without the customer even knowing. Being that i have worked for Godaddy for quite some time now i have learned the tricks that the cart employs and can usually create my own personal purchases with deep discounts. Without the use of the codes. (Half of which rarely work)

Being that this is also my first post here i would like to say hi :) I know allot about Godaddy and the inner workings and because of this i have amassed myself a modest domain portfolio.
