Noticed the domain name P.TV is under auction.
The high bid for P.TV is currently at $50,555 USD and the reserve range is between $100,001 and $500,000
As a one letter *TV.com owner, I'm curious to know how you guys think the value of P.TV and PTV.COM?
If P.TV can reach $50k, how much do you think PTV.COM would sell for?

To branding your business, would you choose P.TV or PTV.COM for your 1st choice?

Here are some (L)TV.COM's sales record:

    GTV.COM $130K 2008
    OTV.COM $110K 2007
    ETV.COM $100K 2014
    MTV.COM $100K 2003
    TTV.COM $100K 2008
    LTV.COM $30K 2013

I tend to prefer .com, but looking at the two, I would be proud to use either one. Both are very excellent domains. Not many reported sales on Namebio for single letter .tv domains.

    d.tv 18,000 USD 2010-04-14 Sedo
    e.tv 17,500 USD 2008-08-06 Sedo

But both the .com and the .tv you ask about are valuable.

In terms of potential resell value the .com wins hands-down.

Still, the tv version makes for a nice name for a media company, but I would always choose the .com over the .tv unless you are using it to offer services to the area of .tv only.

Yes, value wise, undeveloped, the .com is by far superior.

.com is far superior but if it's media related , I have seen more .tv domains being used.

I received a $100k offer for my (L)TV.com from a broker who represents a well-established media company (as big as Reuters and that letter is their initial) last year, the negotiation went back and forth and finally they put their highest offer $300k on the table and I declined. If I closed that deal at that moment, it would be the biggest (L)TV.com sale so far as I know. But I countered $850k and ended the negotiation. I still believe it's a mid-high 6 figure domain name today.

BTW: It is really a coincidence that by checking the whois of (L).TV, I found the owner is a neighbor of mine. Only 5 minutes walk between our houses. What a small world.

Since I am the owner P.tv, I think it has potential to hit 7 figures, if the big Chinese buyers get behind this, or a big end-user get's behind it. And there out there, just need to reach them. It comes down to marketing, and Namejet is doing a great job. Had over 100 offers on P.tv in the past, but feel Namejet can take it to the next level.

Regarding P.tv versus a ptv.com, a media company P.tv would be much more valuable. A non-media company might like the .com better. An investor not from China might like ptv.com better. However, Chinese would consider P.tv more valuable as well, because of it's a constonant, whereas ptv.com (vowel hurts that) I have sold around 30 ll.tv to Chinese buyers, and some have paid a very high amount but was NDA, and they were all "consonants".

So since I feel most likely P.tv will sell on Namejet to a big media company, or a big Chinese investor, so for reasons why I just explained that is why I feel P.tv could be the biggest .tv sale ever. Time will tell, will know in 2 weeks, on my wife's birthday it closes, and might be one hell of a gift for her(lol)

No chance p.tv will go anywhere near $1 million. Maybe $200k. That said, I'd much rather own p.tv than ptv.com

Time will tell Keith:)) I been selling domains since 1998, had some names I thought had no chance to sell big which I did, and others I thought would sell big which did not. See what happens:))) 200K would be a nice ROI:))

    No disrespect to you Jim.

I will go all day using (L)TV.com. If you will use L dot TV, you simply sending traffic to the owner of (L)TV.com

Who cares about traffic? Assume value based on the domain being pure.

You could develop dogsh*t into a billion dollar company. We're here to buy and sell domains and p.tv is worth way more than ptv.com IMO.

However, some companies with .com's had made offers for P.tv, some wanted a url shortner, so it depends on the company. Chinese don't care about traffic, they like short, and they love short .tv, which I already noted sold 30 ll.tv to Chinese already, and since 1 letter is gold, and since they don't exist in .com, net, .org, makes it even more valuable. Another reason why I am selling through namejet, they got Chinese buyers who will pay top $$$$ if they really want the name.

My vote goes for P.TV only. In terms of value, it has several times higher than PTV dot com

I'm gonna go with PTV.com. Because I think (in a futuristic scenario) P.tv would want to buy PTV.com, instead of the other way around. It also flows just a bit better, IMO.

P.TV is more brandable. You have this name, people can not assume what business you are in.

Jim, I don't know the owner of P.TV is a NP member or I won't use P.TV and PTV.COM as the example. I thought your other thread (which has been moved) is just a news thread. I wish you could sell P.TV for a great price.

I'm Chinese and I do admit Chinese investors prefer to buy short domains. But IMO, to brand a media service, e.g. a TV site, you may need a logo shows on screen. I personally would prefer to use PTV rather than P.TV.

And thinking when the news reporter summing up with " This is brought to you by PTV" or "This is brought to you by P dot TV", which one is better?

PTV.COM can be branded as PTV, how P.TV to brand itself? PTV or P dot TV?

It is not the name for the tv station; but rather used as a brand for TV's.
    Just like "LG" phone etc...
