If you could only choose one name researching tool, which of the following would it be and why?

(1) Google's (or any) keyword suggestion tool

[I primary use this tool to learn of the name's/keywords search volume and CPC value)

(2) Google's search tool

[ I don't use this tool because I don't see the use in knowing how many pages contain the name, but I hear others use it for this reason.. I for the life in me can't fathom why it would matter to them to know this]


(3) Any Registrar's domain name check tool

[I use this tool to see if the name is available and to see what other extensions have been registered for the name to check possible demand for it]


(4) Other (please state your tool if you'd be so generous)

Google Keyword Suggestion Tool (to see how many might use the term)
Domaintools.com (to see if it has a history, who owned it and how popular the other TLDs with the same phrase are) in combination with Aboutus.org
Archive.org (to see what past websites might have looked like)

In the end, however, it all depends on what your plans are.

Your first (3) should read (2).

The reason why it's important to do #2 is to check how is that name mentioned. Sometime, it's associated with negative things etc.
