One word vs generic domains

I am totally new to this and reading tons of information.
I currently have 3 domains
housenigthmare.com
lowpricedrepair.com
cheapsolarparts.com

This are brand new virgin domains, I am learning that it might be better to buy expired domains.
But One thing I am not sure on is buying generic use domains such as the once above vs going with more catchy domain names that might have narrow field of use.
Any thoughts on that?

hi

cheapsolarparts com would be best of lot, because of commercial potential to sell a product or service

lowpricerepair is vague, because initially you don't know what items they repair

housenightmare, what does it mean, how can it make money, why would someone want to buy it

imo...

For housenightmare I'd start a site for house stories, people that had natural disasters or whatever, and maybe monetize it with insurance or real estate ads, or maybe contractors and housing repair ads. If you didn't want to go to that trouble I'd let the domain expire. It's not a bad domain, but not great, and really needs to be developed to build it's worth.

For expiring domains, I'd be careful there. Some good ones expire, but a lot of junk drops every day too. Just because someone registered it in the past doesn't make it a good domain ;)

I will say that those 3 domains are far better than most of the stuff I see people registering... However, like Biggie stated, make sure it's something that someone would want to buy. Before you acquire a domain, do some research, find possible end-users and collect email addresses. If you can't find a nice sized list of possible buyers, don't bother getting it. And, starting out... Stick to .com.

Thanks, yeah I kind of realized that after the first 3 I grabbed that only one made sense. I think I am going to try and concentrate on semi generic domain names something like techwiz.com or webops.com stuff that can be used by multiple people for multiple purposes.
As far as dropped domains I am thinking of just cruising through them once a week and just snapping up one a week or so that has good value not just snatching up whatever expired.

I will play with the idea of developing some of the sites.
I do have my own site that I run which is brokeassracing.com

As far as ads for developed pages is google adsense the best thing to use.
