Hi all, a newbie here from New Zealand.

Firstly, what a great forum. So good to have access to a wealth of knowledge. I came across this forum as I was looking at purchasing DNacademy (being a newbie), which was reviewed by Andrew Allemann. The comments on the review said everthing you need to learn to get started is found in this forum. So here I am, reading reading and reading!

Ok, before I buy my first domain I will be researching this forum heavily. I have my first question...

Aged domains vs new domain names? Everyone seems to be interested in buying expiring aged domains that have good trust flow, citation flow, backlinks, referring domains etc found through domcop/expired domains etc for use for PBN's. Thats all good and well if I want to buy and flip a domain to people looking for domains for PBN's but is there also money to be made in new domain names that have no history on wayback machine?

Do experienced domainers have both aged and new domain names in their portfolios?

    Cheers

    Welcome!

You are doing great so far! Nearly every new domainer buys garbage at first. And if they are new and rich, then they bought good domains but they overpaid for them. My advice to you (which you already seem to be following pretty well)

Don't buy anything for 6 months.

    Just read for 6 months.

    Just research for 6 months.

Just ask questions for 6 months.

Your wallet will thank you in 6 months.

    What he said ^

@Chris NZ Welcome to namepros! Answering your question. An aged domain is no warranty that it isn't crap! A new domain can be worth a small fortune! What I mean to say is that you will find the answers researching this forum!
Best of luck and see u! :xf.smile:

Welcome to the NP forums @Chris NZ. You made the best move by registering here and hopefully, you will read and ask a lot of questions before you delve into registering/buying domains. The community is the most helpful community I've seen. Knowledge is shared, but also be on your guard because a few bad apples do slip in from time to time, but the forum admins are usually on top of it so it's reassuring. Use common sense when doing deals here and outside of the forums. Escrow is your best friend. Good luck!

Age is not the only deciding factor or maybe one of the least deciding factors these days.
Ofcourse it wud be an added advantage if your domain ticks a few other essential boxes too..
Keep gaining knowledge, bcoz with it u may earn something but without it u wud surely lose a lot. Welcome to NP.

Welcome to NP. It's alway good to see a new face. I have both aged and new. Money is to be made with both. How much depends on the name.

    Welcome to NamePros! @Chris NZ

Guess it depends on the name or keyword in the domain.
For example, LOVE.COM would be a golden domain whether it was registered today or 100 years back.
    You get the picture.

And everyone has bought some shitty domains at some point in their life. That's every domainer's little deep dark secret. :dead::-P
