Oh by the way i wonder why people not add reputations when someone posts some industry news? It could be good practise to appraise people providing news so more and more people can bring more and more fresh news if they get reputations. If i remember i was the one breaking the news that lunarpages was for sale , and wow lunar didnt thank me either for it for bringing it to their own attention ,really hurts when something u do and it helps others either to get the problem error resolved or in other way and u dont even get thanks .

It's ad-supported. That's how they don't lose their money. personally, I would never use ad-supported hosting.

I don't see how this is new - companies have always offered free hosting really like geocities etc.

GoDaddy is just taking the initiative of giving free hosting on your top domain www.domain.com that you purchased which will be ad supported.

well even gmail is an ad-supported email service ;) Fact is no business is crazy enough to offer thousands of web servers worth of space for FREE. Anything free that is adopted on a mass scale and that costs a heck of a lot of money will have to be ad supported.

There is talk that Microsoft is thinking about offering the next version of it's windows OS FREE (ad-supported) ... the ads would somehow be integrated with their GUI interfaces..... they're thinking about it, and a firm decision has not been reached....

Ad-Supported e-mail should not be compared to ad-supported websites.
Having your own website (your gem, your precious) with ads on it is quite different to using a free email service with ads on it! Very different indeed.

I have never bothered looking for an ad-free free email service, but I can tell you there certainly was a time when I was looking for ad-free free website hosting.

You do all the work to create content and attract traffic, we sit back and serve the ads for paying less than $1 wholesale server overheads and bandwith per month. Fair enough for children, silly for adults, imho.

I doesn't really matter if only YOU see the ads on your Yahoo email site. (True, that can be an annoyance to you, but at least your customers would be spared.) But it WOULD matter if surfers were spammed with tons of ads whenever they clicked a link to your website.

So it depends what they mean by "ad-supported." If it's just that they're paying for that free hosting with ads they use on their other sites, fine, no problem. But if they want to make YOU their brand new ad salesman, and fill the tops of your webpages with commercial banners and buttons, then forget it.

If they have ads on your site, it's nothing special. There's been plenty other sites like this before and they make a fair amount of money from the ads on your site.
