March 18 to April 8. All you can say is wow.
Many new people came to .tv, some new domainers, some old time domainers who shunned the extension because of premium pricing. Well known domainers either bought their first (Aron Meystedt XF.com)or added with some nice Gold Rush names (Michael Berkens thedomains.com) Frank Schilling was in then out and maybe in the auction today. I don't know some have whispered we will see when the names get paid.
A lot of new people no one knows have come into the extension and that is good. More people telling more friends and associates. More postings on Facebook,Twitter and sig lines. Hopefully it means more development. Hopefully the new registrants understand this is not a get rich quick business. You need to think, research, price your inventory reasonably. If you are not reasonable you are wasting time and money, go to a casino roulette pays 35 to 1.
Understand that .tv is still what it is only now with more of an attractive reseller market. It is an extension that with certain keywords can be a #2 to .com.
Names such as LCD.tv,Flatscreen.tv,Cable.tv Satellite.tv,HD.tv are probably better in .tv than they are in .net or .org because they are intuitive. After we move away from the top fitting names, .tv is behind .org and .net. Tied with .info in some opinions and far superior to others.
We now have choice in the premium market. Name.com and Dynadot seem like they want to compete with ENOM for your premium business.
Understand the same principles apply, quality over quantity. Just because Verisign priced a name at $10,000 before does not mean its a buy for $800. They have no greater pricing logic than anyone else.
The time for discussion is over if you own 10 good names and have been involved for over a year in .tv. The time now is for active involvement in your domain portfolio. That can be development or actively marketing your names for sale.
Development, there are a lot of tools available now. If you have no knowledge there are people who can help you. You can do more than just plain parking, only 2% of all .tv are getting any direct navigation. Check out Why Park, or Dev Hub. Think about your pitch of certain names you want others to buy and flip the script.
If you truly believe a product name you own is so ripe to start a business and make money, then you do it. Because if you are right, you will make much more money than you ever will selling .tv names. Again if its not hype and you believe what you say unless you have an incredible portfolio with many good .com names you will make more money focusing your effort on that one name. The money you would spend in renewals you put into an adwords campaign, advertising on other websites that fit the category. Spending time in that industry's top forum and contributing. Don't waste your time answering questions to someone who already knows the answer here. Go focus on that name and you will have much more success IMO.
IF you say GFY equity, I do not want to develop. Start focusing on marketing your names to the people who will pay you what you want for your names. Here is a hint, they are not on this forum, except for the odd name. Build a site to showcase your names in tandem with Sedo and Afternic. Think about running an adwords campaign for your top names. Its not an every week strategy but can be effective. Research the best end users and get the right information on how and who to contact about your domain name.
The game has changed there is a lot more competition now. A lot of people have very good or great names. Before the premium system kept some names off the market. So you might have had an alternative, that was in a higher light because of the premium. An example I own HomeRepairs.tv non premium, the fact that HomeRepair.tv IMO the better name, was a $1500 premium was a small plus for my name, that advantage is now out. You will have to be more hands on. Do the end user marketing you want SEDO and TRAFFIC to do for the auctions.
The last 21 days were just getting into the starting blocks, now the race begins. The journey that started with Jason Chapnik in 1999 now looks to be on the best footing it ever has been, but remember you make your own future, there is no one future for .tv. Be active and best of luck.
This forum and the core members here who have built this place have shown why this is thee place when it comes to .tv and that is not imo that is a fact as true as the day is long. Congrats and Thank You to everyone who has built this place in a positive manner.
Thank you to everyone over the last three weeks who provided stats and info.
