March 18 to April 8. All you can say is wow.

Many new people came to .tv, some new domainers, some old time domainers who shunned the extension because of premium pricing. Well known domainers either bought their first (Aron Meystedt XF.com)or added with some nice Gold Rush names (Michael Berkens thedomains.com) Frank Schilling was in then out and maybe in the auction today. I don't know some have whispered we will see when the names get paid.

A lot of new people no one knows have come into the extension and that is good. More people telling more friends and associates. More postings on Facebook,Twitter and sig lines. Hopefully it means more development. Hopefully the new registrants understand this is not a get rich quick business. You need to think, research, price your inventory reasonably. If you are not reasonable you are wasting time and money, go to a casino roulette pays 35 to 1.

Understand that .tv is still what it is only now with more of an attractive reseller market. It is an extension that with certain keywords can be a #2 to .com.

Names such as LCD.tv,Flatscreen.tv,Cable.tv Satellite.tv,HD.tv are probably better in .tv than they are in .net or .org because they are intuitive. After we move away from the top fitting names, .tv is behind .org and .net. Tied with .info in some opinions and far superior to others.

We now have choice in the premium market. Name.com and Dynadot seem like they want to compete with ENOM for your premium business.

Understand the same principles apply, quality over quantity. Just because Verisign priced a name at $10,000 before does not mean its a buy for $800. They have no greater pricing logic than anyone else.

The time for discussion is over if you own 10 good names and have been involved for over a year in .tv. The time now is for active involvement in your domain portfolio. That can be development or actively marketing your names for sale.

Development, there are a lot of tools available now. If you have no knowledge there are people who can help you. You can do more than just plain parking, only 2% of all .tv are getting any direct navigation. Check out Why Park, or Dev Hub. Think about your pitch of certain names you want others to buy and flip the script.

If you truly believe a product name you own is so ripe to start a business and make money, then you do it. Because if you are right, you will make much more money than you ever will selling .tv names. Again if its not hype and you believe what you say unless you have an incredible portfolio with many good .com names you will make more money focusing your effort on that one name. The money you would spend in renewals you put into an adwords campaign, advertising on other websites that fit the category. Spending time in that industry's top forum and contributing. Don't waste your time answering questions to someone who already knows the answer here. Go focus on that name and you will have much more success IMO.

IF you say GFY equity, I do not want to develop. Start focusing on marketing your names to the people who will pay you what you want for your names. Here is a hint, they are not on this forum, except for the odd name. Build a site to showcase your names in tandem with Sedo and Afternic. Think about running an adwords campaign for your top names. Its not an every week strategy but can be effective. Research the best end users and get the right information on how and who to contact about your domain name.

The game has changed there is a lot more competition now. A lot of people have very good or great names. Before the premium system kept some names off the market. So you might have had an alternative, that was in a higher light because of the premium. An example I own HomeRepairs.tv non premium, the fact that HomeRepair.tv IMO the better name, was a $1500 premium was a small plus for my name, that advantage is now out. You will have to be more hands on. Do the end user marketing you want SEDO and TRAFFIC to do for the auctions.

The last 21 days were just getting into the starting blocks, now the race begins. The journey that started with Jason Chapnik in 1999 now looks to be on the best footing it ever has been, but remember you make your own future, there is no one future for .tv. Be active and best of luck.

This forum and the core members here who have built this place have shown why this is thee place when it comes to .tv and that is not imo that is a fact as true as the day is long. Congrats and Thank You to everyone who has built this place in a positive manner.

Thank you to everyone over the last three weeks who provided stats and info.

Great post!
Agree in 100%. It was just an amazing month for all of us. Now โ€“ go to work. Developers โ€“ develop. Flippers โ€“ flip.

P.S. Is it possible, that you will become a moderator here again?
I donโ€™t know all this โ€œoldโ€ stories, also donโ€™t have any problems with any moderators, but we all know that youโ€™re a real Team Leader.

Fabulous post Ray - and very well timed.

I think many of the 'residents' over the past three weeks will now set off on similar paths to those your are advocating.

My three weeks stint is over, timed nicely with the end of our Easter Holidays.

I look forward to seeing what everyone does with their portfolio.

Agree ... great, passionate contributions by all! :talk:
While pretty exciting times for the niche ".TV" (getting rid of all hefty annual Premium renewal fees is a good start) ... it's also important to balance the discussions for the benefit of new & newer members IMHO; I know that there are folks who registered beyond their means based on some of the recent hoopla and chatter ... and I still think the main "winners" here will prove to be Verisign/Enom and Sedo! :gl:

Look forward to successful, verified auction closings ... new and rich content / developments from both domainers and End users, and more lively conversations and sharing of OPINIONS here in the #1 .TV Forumโ„ข. :talk: :imho:

All the best,
Jeff B-)

Very nice post Ray and thanks for the chatroom yesterday - was great fun.
And a great post.

I also think TM made a very good point (Thats TWOMOON for clarification)

Developers โ€“ develop. Flippers โ€“ flip.
There is nothing wrong/dirty or harmful to the extension for being a flipper. It was how most people made their money from 06-09.

With all the "chatter" out there, it would seem like making money in this extension by flipping is worse than shooting your own mother....

I do NOT intend to flip any of my names.

But i am very impressed with the "in your face marketing" going on here by the new kids on the block.

While I agree with Marlowes' sentiment regarding shameless self promotion on the threads, on the other hand, it is good to see domainers that are no shrinking violets being part of the .tv crowd.

As the dust settles - hopefully the rules and self regulation will clean up their acts ..its actually quite funny that I see a bit of Dottie in all of them!!

I have definately moved from flipper to end user seller - UNLESS MY FINANCIAL CIRCUMSTANCES CHANGE - so I will be really lucky if i am able to sell one, never mind two names a year.

Finally, I would like to add that I sold a name of mine about four weeks ago for mid xx,xxx - unfortunately - subject to NDA, I guess some people knew what was coming down the pipeline.

Those who really know me know I do not BS about names I have bought or sold and have always wanted to verify my sales whenever possible. Unfortunately not possible this time.

What I can say is - it was a reg fee name and i had it for three years.

Good luck everyone, save your breath from responding to irrational spammed chatter - there are plenty people here, both new and old,who have yet to be convinced about the current or future prospects of .tv. These are the people I listen to for balanced opinion....even if I totally disagree.

This is most likely the best thread ever created here.
Repped of course, Duh!

I really hope that as people come into this thread, next week, next month, and next year, this thread is bumped often, so I can re-read it as I need to constantly be honest with myself, and create a better Domaining Management for me and my never ending and somewhat confused, sometimes no direction, off course portfolio.

This awesome Post from you Ray, along with all of the incredible responses from Members I can call my friends here makes me think. Think Alot. As I reflect in who I am in this crazy Domaining World one thing is for sure, I need to start moving, just as your title suggests, "Time to get busy".

Today, I have no idea what I consider myself. Long term investor, Domainer, End User Salesman, Marketing Self proclaimed wannabe, LOL (Love that), Developer (not really, only if crappy mini-sites count, LOL), Blogger, (I have always wanted to start a great blog for everyone becuse I love writing, and whether you wanna believe it or not, some people have actually paid me to write for them! lmao)...

I really dont know, I actually want to be all of the above, and have had a bit success with each of these. All I can tell you is I truly have a vision and an ever increasing passion for .TV. I've had it before March 18th, and now I have 10x that feeling.

Funny thing is, I stumbled on domaining while looking for a domain because I just HAD to create a site, and in searching for my domain it became a huge pain in the Ass, while being intrigued at the money people were asking, and making...Well, my one domain that I HAD to have turned into 1000+.

Guess what, That domain that I HAD to have still sits in my GoDaddy account with only an email address and a Parking page. kinda pathetic huh? I must have a mild case of A.D.D....???

I'm very happy to have been a big part of this past 3 weeks. I can honestly say that I was a very big part of Domaining History with all that has changed in the .TV World and that memory is cool as hell today. I cant imagine what it will feel like in a year or 3 from now when .TV finally moves into its well deserved ranking, close to or equal with .com. - Yeah, I'm a dreamer!

The "Lets Break Sedo's Record for .TV's concurrently running in Auction"...

That was a Friggen Blast!
We actually got up to 47 all running at the same time! Twice!
That record, I really don't think will ever be broken from a non-organized Auction house, just me and my buddies all submitting some killer .TV's at the same time.
That was a ton of fun, and hopefully everyone who entered had as much fun as I did. I feel like I was a huge part of that roller coaster ride, and I thank each and everyone of you for helping out, and participating!

Thanx Ray for everything, your advice when I didnt know if I was gonna go overboard, your Blog and great source of constant .TV info, your creating and Moderating the chatroom for us yesterday, and last but not least of course this Post!

P.S.
I view these last 3 weeks in my .TV experience events kinda like Spring Break Vacation.
Now It is time to head home and become more responsible again...

But you always remember those Spring Break Vacations...
Oh what memories!
What was her name again???

Thx to everyone,
Vito.

You've all been great.. I look forward to reading (and joining in once in a while) on more .TV discussion and of course buying/selling.. In the frenzy I picked up a couple .TV I am happy with and even made one sale already (ND) but it was a handreg for low $xxx. Having fun in here, this is a great subforum with great members. An amazing post and a definite rep added!

I don't know what I can contribute to this post, but a bump and a comment is definitely deserved.

I started in the domain industry in 2003 as a domain flipper. I did well, but moved on into Design, Development and Marketing. I have been out of the resale game for quite a while and I definite do not that I could have picked a better time to get back in the game.

I am proud to have been able to take part in this awesome time for .TV. I look forward to developing my portfolio and seeing what you all do with yours!

Thanks!

Mike

A former member of this board was interviewed in a webinar and made the comment, "...focus on driving revenue..." That comment stuck with me as it is something domainers often lose sight of as the tendency is to focus on acquisitions. There are multiple ways to make money from domains but debating with nonproductive "forum participants" I have on ignore is not one of them. Morgan Linton today posts about time management and focusing your efforts on revenue-generating activities. Debating you know who generates no revenue and is a waste of a precious resource - your time.
