.tv Something not mentioned during the regging frenzy

Way back when Scott Higgason who then was running .tv, and I would talk about 3 character.tv names. We both agreed premiums for these names was not realistic nor economical. Before Scott left Verisign he told me that he mentioned to those above him to make these names non premium.

Well it looks like they finally listened. Now names like y2k.tv or FU2.tv, can be hand regged for non premium pricing. Now first off let me say I am not saying these are the greatest names in the world. But for some popular acronyms they might be cool to have. Especially younger people like short names and like to use acronymns. So maybe you get one you like to use for your email address or to redirect to your facebook or youtube page. Maybe it becomes the name of a project or website. If you are in the UK, and maybe into online tv or a videographer, I think a name like UK1.tv is cool.

Now JimboJimbo from Namepros.com, let people know about a uk registrar that has cheap .tv registrations. approx 5 pounds or $8. This may be a place to try since you might not want to spend a lot of money on these if you reg more than one or two. For whatever reason a few 3 character names got priced as premium, but not many. A name like 3rd.tv is priced at $130. I want you to understand 3 character is not LLL or NNN, it is a combination of letters and numbers.

A couple other favorable points about these names. These names have been parked for a long time by ENOM. Everyone I checked was indexed in Google. Secondly most 3 character are taken in the top gtlds and CCtlds.

I regged two and did for the first time use Heart Internet, total was 11.72 pounds converted to $17.76.

I regged 10K.tv great for running site IMO and Go4.tv.

I got h2O at 'gold' and having woke up this morning an read this thread I immediately realised I had a file of three-letter names I'd missed checking.

A few hours on I now own UK1 and bought 20 or so three-letter names.

And I've had a lot of fun.

Jimbo I guess you got H and two numbers 2 &0 H2 the letter o has been developed for a long time. One of the best developed .tv on the net IMO.

I have no plans to develop though so it was probably a stupid buy. That said it could be the new Napster also for sharing tv shows - but that's illegal.
