I do not understand this rule. It appears that it is a common rule on all domain forums and I would like it explained to me why this is the case.

If somebody is mis-representing their traffic stats as type-in and they are actually running an adwords campaign, or most of it is from referring sites (who can take down the links at any time) or any of a hundred other possible scams/semi-scams/fabrications, it seems to me it would be a good idea for others to alert potential buyers to this problem.

Possibly I am missing something here but from where I stand it seems the only reason this rule is in place is to help people take advantage of unsuspecting and uninformed buyers.

That's why we have the report post button (

) at the bottom of the postbit. It's not good to have world war 3 erupting in a thread, ruins the sale, and makes the forum unprofessional.

To take it further, allowing such things, as Bill mentioned having the potential to get out of hand, goes against everything Bill post in his sig-line:

Be cool. Be polite. Be professional.™ © Jeff 2003-2008

I knew there was some reason he used that sig:p

It is OK to ask questions that pertain to the domain on sale. For example if you need clarification on the stats or want a screenshot it's perfectly OK to post.
What would not be allowed is comments like "Why do you ask $$$ for ####.com while the .net can be had for reg fee" or "Didn't you grab this one for $60 at Snapnames last week". Comments like that can only hurt the sale...
