I've used Justin.tv, Ustream.tv, Clip Share, Channel Me, vShare, Melody, custom coding, and a host of others to build and/or configure sites. The other day I noticed cate.tv was using Ning to build out her latest creation so I decided to give it a go. It's great!

If anyone is looking to build a Dot TV site, Ning is the best "bang for the buck" I've found so far. IMO.

Thanks for the tip, looking to start developing some of my .tv soon.

Good luck with your development.

The more I dig into this, the better it gets. You can request access to source code for complete customization. You can also pay a monthly fee to have all Ning branding removed.

add to your collection magnify.net as well.

I agree with you, NING is a good solution. I have Michigan.TV still under development using this service, still a lot of information to add.

The outsourcing service is way to go so you can focus to the business side.

I have only one comment with NING, there is no support except the community groups. They just removed the forum support.

Good luck to your project.

I built a site in 5 hours today that looks like a $25K build-out. :tu:

( Is the developer forum still active? )

What is your ning site?

I've tried other social outsourced services, but so far I settled with NING services.

Justin.tv is great. I wish they provided a premium option that would remove all of their branding like Ning.

I wouldn't say IDEAL platform. It is an acceptable platform if your goal is to build a site to generate a little bit of revenue for a garage business. It is better than a parking page and the other channel me type solutions.

Glad to hear that it worked well for you and your garage business.

I personally think it has even more potential if the right people work to maximize the full potential of the platform.

Nothing is going to replace custom development.

I personally think the net is flooded with copycat social networking sites. You need to offer more than a social network.

True. You have learned a lot in your short time here grasshopper.

I'm a coder, all coders will prefer custom development.

False. There's no reason to reinvent the wheel. You can take a platform like Ning and code as much, or as little as you wish.

I'm going to use Ning as a section of my sites. A section.....not the whole site. IMHO, that is the winning formula
