Here is mine. Will it work? Yes it will.

Show videos from local advertisers in a directory style format.

When a user watches a video, they will want to schedule an appointment or contact the business (a lead).

When the user submits the request more information form, we charge the advertiser $2 - $25 for the lead based on the price they set to purchase leads.

The advertisers who bid higher for leads will show up at the top of the directory. The advertisers who bid lower for leads will show up at the bottom.

Each advertiser must establish a monthly budget of $30 minimum. When a lead is generated from their listing, I will debit their lead bid price from that bucket of money. Each month, we just the remaining balance, and debit their card to bring it back to the monthly budget level.

That model will work for DOT COM, DOT NET, DOT TV, and DOT whatever you want. It will work for text based directory, video directories, lead generation sites, yellow pages, vertical directories, and any type of directory.

SIMPLE. SIMPLE. SIMPLE.

You can Google my name "George Pickering Respond.com". You can go on Quantcast and see my traffic volume. I've been doing this before most of you even heard of a DOT COM.

I've given you the answer for running a Geo DOT TV.

Unless you want to raise $500,000 and give up 85% of your domain/company, it is the only answer.

If you want the rest of the answer, which is how to drive traffic. You can PM me.

Ctack. One thing. Also offer a $200-$400 option for people who just want in the directory without paying per lead. You will always have 10% who just want in without the variable cost.

George,

Thanks for providing this. You have so many great geo names. What are your best or most profitable ones at this time?

Thanks, Jim

Respond.com
AllWedding.com
BanquetFacilities.com
EventCatering.com
Videographers.net
Officiants.TV
ReceptionHalls.TV

These sites are verticals, but they are also geos because they are directory listings.

Sounds like a nice business model, but
a) you need a large database with a lot of advertisers to forward the visitor to a local company.. if you don't the query is not targeted
b) people do not search for general terms if they want something local so a name like respond.com will only help if you have a very high budget for seo

Of course you can start with a small site with only a handful of local companies. Would take a long time to build up something that generates good revenue.

I am concentrating on regging local domains that include the town (e.g. town-weddings.com) which will easily outrank other sites and then contact companies via mail. You can always collect user info and then sell them individually. Obviously you can't do that with every niche.

Anyway thanks for posting this. Rep added.

a) that is an easy problem to solve.
b) that is the beauty of the model, I can (and do) spend thousands of dollars each month on SEM (not SEO) allowing me to purchase traffic at $1 and generate $1.75 to $2.00 for each dollar I spend marketing the site.

Now, if you could spend $1 and make $2, that is a pretty powerful model because you don't reply on type in or SEO - you control your own destiny.
