Nice to see Denton adopting .TV for his new video portal:
Gawker Launches Gawker.TV - Unhealthily Obsessed with Video
yet Gawker.TV redirects to: tv.gawker.com
However logos and PR refer to: Gawker.TV
and their tweets (GawkerTV (gawkertv) on Twitter) refer to:
Nice to see .TV being used and introduced to Gawker's massive audience and through most media outlets that follow Gawker's every move. I'm always encouraging many of my clients/contacts to consider .TV as a valid option and showing them Gawker.TV will resonate strongly with those in the media industry. I have also noticed AOL, IAC, CondeNast registering .TV domains for use as pureplay sites, even when the matching .coms were taken.
While some NP members that frequent this section will say that Gawker.TV isn't big news, or nitpick about the redirect to tv.gawker.com (matters very little to me since they are actively & aggressively promoting .TV), I'm only posting this so that the .TV followers that do care can see that another large media company is adopting .TV --- and make no mistake, Gawker (Nick Denton) is a media juggernaut and his actions/strategies are widely discussed, analyzed & mimicked.
While this won't influence .TV aftermarket prices or make anyone's portfolio worth more... greater awareness of the TLD is important before adoption can take place and this new .TV site will be promoted to 3,000,000 uniques per month (via Gawker.com itself) and perhaps up to 20,000,000 uniques (across the Gawker network which includes Gizmodo). Now factor in how many news outlets and bloggers will be discussing the newly launched Gawker.TV site and it could open up more minds to .TV as a credible and viable option... and every little bit helps.
