" Over the past year, 702.tv has been evolving, beginning as a video endeavor featuring video combinations of community news and fun features. The staff has always edited mindfully, framing each story based on the content, whether serious or humorous. Over the course of the year, Greenspun Interactive continued to hire and train staff, while simultaneously building a series of studios for video initiatives. The year culminated with the completion of 702.tv's studio, facilitating the launch of a 30-minute show. We’ve been in soft-launch mode for about six weeks, airing episodes on Vegas TV (Cox Cable channels 14/25), first at 5:30 p.m. and now at our new time, 10:30 p.m. Our show will officially begin with biweekly episodes on Tuesdays and Thursdays and continue to accelerate production from there.
702.tv is a video project I am immensely proud to call my job. Beyond just video, 702.tv is a web project. Our show is named after our website, which features video and a variety of interactive tools. Our show will be reverse engineered directly from this site. As a news consumer in my 20s, I am acutely aware of the technological transition media is undergoing. I believe journalism does have multiple roles across multiple media platforms and 702.tv will serve an audience inherently interested in community participation. But that audience also wants a unique viewer experience and web interaction, nimble changes based on evolving technology ... and maybe a few good laughs.
This is Las Vegas, a city based on endless dichotomies. The world's favorite party spot, flanked by the outdoor offerings found in mountains, desert and on the water. Celebrities, sports, favorite local spots and hidden natural wonders ... there are no shortage of stories. We look forward to telling them in style. I've been following GMG and 702.TV (5) weeks before they launched the Original "702.TV" platform after receiving an inside tip...they also scooped up "Las.TV".
The current version you see now, (702.tv - Las Vegas Television) is obviously not the final product, but they are getting closer, much closer -- and closing in on being the first international "Geo dot tv" development. Many more to come. Great job GMG!
Notes: Vegas.TV was sold for $350,009 several years ago and LasVegas.TV is asking $1,000,000.
