Nameservers Changed Issues on Sav.com

My nameservers for all domains have been changed to ns1.all-harmless.domains and ns2.all-harmless.domains, and I am unable to change the DNS again. What could be the issue?

Also, a friend of mine is facing the same problem with over 600 domains. What's going on with sav.com?

Those bought Sav.com reviews smell pretty fishy indeed, Brad.

Reputation Management & Monitoring solutions are mentioned a lot on the iThreat website. In that context, it is remarkable that Sav/iThreat/CleanDNS think that such bizarre reviews are a solution to the negative publicity, and at the same time allow it to completely escalate on this domain industry forum, where all major customers and industry partners are present.

It won't work because old domains are "dormant" until they are registered by another account on SAV. Once they are, the domain in the old account reactivates all its functions, so if you click the delete button, you would effectively be deleting the current owner's domain. In any case, the problem isn't just about old listings but concerns everyone who currently has domains on SAV, as it's impossible to know if they are still controlled by other people.

And as now has been confirmed by several people, Sav.com has been made aware of this security bug and is doing nothing about it.

Meanwhile at CleanDNS:

Jeffrey Bedser, CEO of CleanDNS, remarked, โ€œI cannot recall a time when a registrar [Sav, red] worked as hard to uphold the security and stability of the Internet in my 15 years with the ICANN community. This proactive approach is setting a new standard in the industry and demonstrates a strong commitment to maintaining a safe and secure internet environment.โ€

I know.. I wasn't offering this as solution to what u described. just as general curiosity if its possible to delete them. which creates another issue... when we ask sav to delete them manually.. do they even check if they were registered by someone else etc... otherwise whether we delete them with button or ask sav to do it like u say tis can create issues for new owner... assuming they are not unregged

Correct, except that Account 1 not only has access to the DNS, but also to every other function such as seeing the current authorization code, so it could easily transfer the domain elsewhere. Or maybe Account 1 could put the domain on the marketplace for $1 and then buy it with another account, and Account 2 would probably never notice...
I just tweeted about this.

Orphaned listings are bad. Orphaned listings that can control the actual domain would be disastrous.

Again, if this problem exists it is one of the most serious security flaws I have seen in the domain world.

Care to comment @Nick R?

Almost of epic proportions.

Brad

They have already been aware of the problem for at least a year:

Alan Woods, General Counsel of CleanDNS, Inc. will be speaking at a major B2B Domain Conference in London this month.

Will those present at the conference dare to ask critical questions, or are there different interests at play?

That is certainly an interesting question. Also consider that all the DATA they get their hands on and can combine in this way cannot be expressed in money.

it's a curiosity. I assume such services arent cheap. I dont remember seeing fee schedules on their site. frankly before this thread I never even heard of cleandns but I assume sav isn't the only registrar they service.

I agree.

Sometimes it feels like it is one big circle jerk.

Many big players seem to ignore serious issues. They only care if it effects them directly.

I have no major personal stake in this. I have two domains at Sav.com from auction wins, that will be transferred out ASAP.

However, I do care about the domain world in general. Specifically, I care about registrant rights and security issues. Both of which are in play here.

I have a few of these expireddomains still stuck in my Sav account.

Looks like I tried to deleted this one on May 23rd, 2024. Still in my account. (notice the date expiring)

While you are at it please give this domain name back to its original owner as I have no clue how that ended up in my account, I'm still on the fence about just wiping your business out, just honestly all it takes is to admit wrongdoing and a future map of dealing with this the legal and proper way.

WOWEEEWEE why on earth lmao.

If you click on the domain, can you tell us what the "Date Added" is. That should be the day it was transferred to your account. Maybe check your email as well to see if you received any notification of that domain being transferred into your account.

It's hard not to be susceptible to sponsorship offers from CleanDNS on domaining websites and on industry conferences, and their PR machine.

I notice it with IT.com too.

But compared to this... they are not a real threat.
