The only common thing I see (if it's not compliance) is that people with new gTLDs are affected, and I truly remember that they often throw them as gifts or reduced (compared to GD).
Maybe there is a profitability thing
I'll investigate this topic; never seen something like this - I'm a new Domainer.
My question to give an example of a possible abusive Domain was ignored by "CTO",
Kind regards,
Mustafa
Dot .co and .io aren't exactly that new and have been sold for some good figures, sold a.co myself for 5 figures.
In fact, that domain was sold while it was under Sav.com
I also hold several .coms and .net under my Sav account so this doesn't seem like a valid claim whatsoever, there was also a period in time where auctions for .io and .co reached some good bids.
I possibly have registered 0.1% of my domains through Sav.com and the rest were all auctions.
All this looks like a Sav salvation to get rid of the abusers Sav is known for and clean their reputation over the back of actual domainers, seeing CleanDNS with the insane brag possibly hoping to reach some noise in the domain industry with this entire cleanup.
I will be posting more freely now since my domain names are out and there isn't much they can do at this point.
Both their chat, support tickets, phone calls, reaching their voice mail constantly, getting email treats such as this one.
The post on here from
@CleanDNS indicated that the following emails will be going to them.
The fact that it's 2024, and Sav is rolling backwards.
This for me seems to be just the beginning of Sav.com's downfall and happily so,
@CleanDNS grabbing at it as a big victory hoping to gain more traction, this was a pure selfish act on behalf of Sav.com &
@CleanDNS.
I'm not taking away the cleverness of either Nick or Jeff, shit happens especially when you are under stress, I don't know the back story here...
But, No matter how I look at this, and trust me I am trying to find sense in chaos this was a rotten selfish move and a 101 on how to lose a loyal client base in a matter of days.
Moonbase (.) co sold for 12k, imagine this happening at that time and having to explain to the buyer the domain is locked for abuse. Not even to mention the relationships moving forward.
As Snoopy said, you are skating a very dangerous line.
I will leave a final post on Linkedin regarding this entire mess up and keep it up this time.
You also best believe you would have been dragged to court
@Nick R if I didn't manage to get my domain names out, absolute clown move and you should have known better.
Upon opening a domain register and being under ICANN you take on a responsibility, while I still agree Sav.com has come far I can't ever picture them as a reliable partner for either auctions, holding domain names, or anything else, end off.
@CleanDNS I would highly recommend removing your false victory claim as you did more damage than good as well.
Well done chaps, this makes a great reference topic on what not to do as a domain register.
