This is regarding the domain Maker.org

The domain is registered on Namescout with an expiration date of June 8th, 2009.

I noticed earlier today that the domain was not resolving so I decided to take a closer look at it.

When I logged into my Namescout account the domain was missing, however there is a notice "You have 1 domain name(s) expiring within 75 days
Please click here to renew them."

When I click on the link it has the domain Maker.org listed, despite the expiration date being almost a year away.

I went to Pir.org and looked at the status. The domain still has my information, but the status now says "CLIENT HOLD". It shows Last Updated August 9th, 2008.

Does anybody have any idea what this means?

Thanks,
Brad

Yeah, I already did. I just found the whole thing odd.

Considering the domain is not listed in my account, but there is a renewal notice for it I am assuming it is some billing error. That would explain why they placed it in "Client Hold" status. I would be a lot more upset if this was a developed named and it happend over the weekend.

Thanks for the info. Repped.

Never happened to me before, but here's what PIR.org says:

Client Hold: The registrar has set the status so a domain name is removed from the zone file - meaning that no Internet services, including e-mail and Web sites, are available for this domain name.

I|s it possible you forgot to renew it and namescout themselves have renewed it?

Some registrars do this before a domain drops.

I only got this name recently, and it doesn't expire until 6/8/2009.

I will respond to this thread once I receive Namescout's explanation as to what is going on.

Good to keep watchful eye. I find with Namescout that domains transferred out still remain in my Namescout account as if they were active. Have not received renewal notices from them, but used to from defunct RegisterFly. Almost paid the renewal on domains that weren't even there ... until I remembered they'd been transferred out the year before.

The name is defimnately still at namescout as is indicated by the whois:

Registrar: Extreme Domains.ca Inc. (R1405-LROR)

that registrar is extremely dangerous...

don't be surprised if they confiscated your domain name

The name is still there, the status is just CLIENT HOLD. I think when you combine that with the renewal notice it is some billing error. I will give them the benefit of the doubt for now, and assume they will fix it. However, if this was a developed site and it happened over the weekend I would be in a very bad mood, since the domain does not resolve when it is in this status.

EDIT - The issue has been resolved. It was a billing error on Namescout's end that was corrected. The domain is currently out of "Client Hold" status and back in my control.
