I purchased a domain and it was automatically transferred to namescout. It appears that they will charge a $25 fee to transfer it to a new registar. Is there a way to get around that? Has anyone dealt with namescout before?

Namescout has a poor rep for customer service, now I know that they like to discourage transfering away too. I doubt there is a way around this. IMO pay their fee and transfer anyway. Their reg fee is expensive so you will save in the long run by transfering the domain to another registrar. I assume it is a name you got at the drops. Unfortunately the dropped domains sometimes land with outlandish registrars. Let's hope that it is not a low-value domain. Good luck.

Hope I got this right...

I have recently transfered a name to eNom, WITHOUT the fee that you mentioned. Unless that is something just imposed.
(I dont have my card info with them. I didnt rev. any bill from them)
Is NameScout.com we are talking abt right??

I don't think there is a charge, if there is then I've paid it without knowing too.. Agreed their customer service is dire - they just ignore your emails. I'd move your names out ASAP.

Problem is it's a new domain and I have to wait.
