I just completed my very first enduser sale ever! As some of you know i'm new to NamePros/Domaining and by accident found this website one day while surfing the net. I read a few posts and not long afterwards was HOOKED! Its just a hobby for me but I love it and now I've had my first real enduser sale.

I bought a domain i really liked (can't mention name) at auction about 5 months ago for mid xxx and was contacted a few weeks ago regarding the name. I just closed the deal yesterday for 4k and got the check in the mail today. It's my first sale ever over XX and i am stoked!

This sale never would have happened though for me if it wasnt for NamePros and the great community that exists here. From the moment i joined (on a whim) i was welcomed and have been learning from the absolute best in the industry. You guys are great and have only helped to prove to me (especially through this sale) that domaining can make you money and can be another great way to invest in quality assets. Can't wait to see my friends faces (the ones that doubted domain investing) when i show them this check. Heheh. So thank you all (especially SlimPickins, Reece/LLLL.com, Gemstar for great recent advice) and I am lucky and proud to be in the company of such professional and great people such as yourselves. I truly appreciate it.

Here's to making some money!

Hey, congratulations. There's a reason why I make NamePros my domaining forum home, and I think you've touched on just about every one. ;)

Take care and wish you many more successes.

Congratulations Johnny, the first big sale is always nice.

Your post also shows other newcomers that investing mid-$xxx in the aftermarket can yield good returns, and may be a better option than trying to sell fresh regs.

wow awesome roi.
Since you value this forum so much, why not be a little more descriptive, so newbies, remember when you were one, can learn.
How did the enduser contact you? was it their name and they let it drop?
What drew you to the name? there are 10,000's of drops per day, what caught your eye?
did you negotiate or just accept his offer? did you do research on the buyer?
what are the buyers plans? how long did you negotiate? stuff like that.
congrats again

To answer some of these questions, i won the name at auction at namejet where i was in a bidding war for it. Ended up winning it for about mid XXX. I am in the tv/film industry and the domain stood out as something i could use for my own career if need be so i didnt mind paying a pretty penny. I looked at it as an investment in the future for my career or just as an investment in a good domain name as well. I knew that the domain had potential whether someone approached me about it or not. I parked it at sedo and 5 months later (two weeks ago) i got a nice little email stating that someone had interest in purchasing the domain. The original offer was 2k so i countered with 4. I didn't hear back from the interested party for a week. I thought i may have scared them away but 2 just wasn't enough for me to let this name go. Not much later they came back and offered 3.5, but i was out of town and not around my email. Apparently (luckily) by not responding they thought that their counter offer wasnt enough so they took it upon themselves to look up my whois and call me. We ended up closing the deal via escrow.com for 4 (with them paying fees, saving me hundreds compared to sedo.) and that was that.

So thats the story if anyone was interested. And all your comments just go to show the encouragement and positivity that namepros users have. Its a great place and together we can take advantage of some great opportunities. Thank you all again for the kind words. Reps added to all of you. (If you haven't gotten them yet you will tomorrow as i've run out for the day.)

Thanks again and best luck to all of us!
