My domains:

MixedRealityTours
MixedRealityTravel
MixedRealityFitness
MixedRealitySchool
MixedRealityMath
MixedRealityPhysics
MixedRealityConstruction
MixedRealityAds
MixedRealityTennis
MixedRealityGolf
MixedRealityGym
MixedRealityDate

Yes Rob Scoble loves the keyword Mixed Reality.

Some try to refer to it as Next Generation Augmented Reality but when I asked him the question he said Microsoft calls it Mixed Reality. I do too ;)

as i mentioned before (just a prediction )

slowly people understand the concept the MR is not even next generation AR , and it will end the confusion about it .
besides that imho apple will not coin a new reality , its becoming a circus and they wont join .
I think that they will either use the AR MR terminology depending on their product and if it will be able to support both AR&VR or just True AR.
they will definitely coin a new product name but i dont care about that lol

Well Rob Scoble is adamant that his what he considers extremely reliable sources have confirmed the devices they are working on will be or eventually will be through the use of added HMD capable of mixed reality ;)

All the big companies have confirmed they are going the mixed reality route so yes pretty soon there will be no confusion with AR.

Signs are looking promising people.

Great post Elad.

This one is worth a full read guys ;)

If all goes well, I think this really is the next big thing. From what I have learned it just seems to useful. I can see a lot of practical benefits in my "offline" work for this technology, partly still some years in the future, but anyway, I think it will be a a great success. If 2017 some new stuff really hits the market, I think it's going to be a success.

Again I have to think of "Black Mirror" when reading the article Elad posted. Really worth to watch it.

Is it safe to follow him on FB again? Has he stopped filling his feed with Hilary Clinton spam? And is he really an authoritative figure? All I know is he supposedly single-handedly wrecked Google Glass with that infamous shower pic.

And is he really an authoritative figure?

He's not one of the leading experts on this technology so I wouldn't take too much notice of what he says. He's just a guy that loves VR and left Rackspace and joined UploadVR

Hes stopped with the Hilary Clinton spam but hes not stopped with the mixed reality spam ;)

Don't think he's going to wear his hololens in the shower though, he loves it too much lol.

He's also a guy who gets to access many industry insiders and doesn't have too much affiliation to give an impartial honest view.

But gilescoley is correct. Don't follow just one evangelist or tech insider. Follow as many as you can and really do your research to find out what is going on in the heart of the industry. Listen to the important messages coming out of the big companies themselves, not just what appears on google alerts. The reason for this advice is yes google alerts can be a great tool for future trends but sometimes it gives more heavy weight to current trends (which is what is happening at the moment with AR). Mixed Reality is a future trend that should "hopefully" start building momentum in the media with expected announcements in 2017-2018.

That way you will truly see the positive momentum mixed reality is building up behind the scenes.

I am not saying this to pump mixed reality. I am saying this because this is the big message that is coming deep from within the important players in the tech industry.

One thing I know is that when you see gilescoley and cordoba in the mixed reality thread it does mean something. They are actively keeping a open eye of what is going on with mixed reality ;)

This thread definitely has room for two more individuals who may want to contribute to the positive conversations we have regarding mixed reality so welcome :)

Some good material does get posted in this thread so it is a good thread to keep your eyes on imo.

Kind regards, Gary.

Absolutely, its easy to find out who the leading experts in each field are and follow them on LinkedIn, thats where you get the inside scoop and the most reliable info

Just curious really, I don't own any names and have no plans to, but its always good to watch other threads, same as I do with the marijuana/cannabis thread.

Yes very important information giles.

As with society as a whole the same applies to the tech industry in that there can be a diffetence of opinions.

The more key people/companies you follow the more you can learn and get a more balanced overall assessment as to what "appears" to be going on.

I hope Mads and Elad won't mind me saying this but we have sometimes gone direct to some key players withing some of the big companies to try and get a more informed impartial perspective.

Elad always does say research is key and I couldn't agree more ;)

Yeah, I follow so many people and groups on LinkedIn its ridiculous

I also join a a lot of developer groups for VR, Cloud, Robotics etc, you can often find out stuff that people are looking at developing or that people are just just discussing and it can often lead to some great domain ideas. I spend hours on research, often just sifting through hundreds for Google alerts and reading articles the tech niches I follow. You can see the Google alerts that are relevant or worth reading just by whats in the subject line.

I probably wont post much on here as I dont buy MR names, but I certainly read the thread.

Exactly mate.

I had a chance to purchase what I consider almost premium marijuana/cannabis domains 6 years ago for very cheap.

At the time I thought the guy was off his rockers so didn't make the purchases I now wish I had. That industry is on the verge of exploding now.

Truth is always good to have an open mind because sometimes things we didn't think would happen five years ago are now happening today.

FX who many on this forum respect is praising the potential of flying cars. Flying Cars I tell you lol :xf.eek:

Mixed Reality is currently on the radar so it is a good move at least be watching this space imo.

To be honest I don't post so much in the VR thread now. I keep an eye on it every day though but I built up a collection I am relatively happy with and am happy to watch as the industry evolves over the next couple of years.

Thats right, its worth getting good names cheap even if you aren't a crazy follower of that niche. If I saw what I thought was a really nice MR name, I would buy it, just in case.

Well I have seen you work smart mate.

It's not always a bad thing to wait until something becomes more established before you invest.

You might have to pay a little more $ but at least you are more certain at that stage that the niche is more likely to be a sure thing ;)

Good luck giles.

From a tweet embedded in the article :

"So the @magicleap team and I just ask for a little more patience with us. We are a bit like slow foodies when it comes to MxRL"

So MXRL it is!

Lol

All their promotional videos, company interviews refer to MR.

He did tweets a few days ago mentioning "MR".

It will be MR mate because that is what the majority are running with.

He will do a tweet within the next couple of weeks mentioning MR again ;)

It's just the same with companies mentioning virtuality/VRX - VR is the king acronym as will MR be for this niche.

MXRL is trademarked people so tread carefully with the term.

Cordoba my new nickname for you is "MR OBSESSED" ;)

Just kidding, thanks for the info.

Be Careful Friends!

Just like Microsoft did applied Trademarks to HoloNames, MagicLeap too had applied Trademarks on MixedRealityLightfield and MxRL.
These both companies uses those terms respectively as company specifics.

However when referring / talking generally, they'd call it the Mixed Reality / MR.
You may refer N numbers of conferences / tech talks / interviews etc n its all about Mixed Reality / MR.

Cheers!

100% agree Mads.

Everytime Ronny does a interview he refers to the fact that the company is working hard behind the scenes to create MR content and experiences.

He mentions "Mixed Reality" and immediately say's "or MR".
