Missing domain names in my GoDaddy account

I have about 90 domain names at GoDaddy.

I login my GoDaddy account today and see only 66 domain names in there.

Where are my domain names???

I’ve have listed all 90 domains at Afternic.

So I chat with GoDaddy support manager and he is saying my domain names are in Afternic account.

I told him Afternic is a marketplace, not a registrar. Godaddy should have all my domain names.

He said you can transfer them out of Afternic and into your godaddy account.

I said I have listed ALL 90 domains at Afternic. Why are 66 domains in my GoDaddy account?

I said if you were correct, my GoDaddy account should show zero domains.

And this was a Godaddy support chat manager. First I chat with a normal person at GoDaddy support and he didn’t know crap so then asked for a supervisor or manager.

So does anyone here know why all my domain names are not showing up in my GoDaddy account?

Thank you for your help.

Thanks @Sutruk

I can imagine that the massive negative feedback from the domain investor community might be overwhelming for our GoDaddy liaison. This now involves a multitude of issues concerning both GoDaddy as registrar and Afternic. While many threads have discussed these issues, not all issues have been addressed yet. I sincerely hope that the most pressing issues will be resolved (permanently) very soon.

@anunt Don't hesitate to keep us updated on how GoDaddy is actively handling your ticket in the meantime.

You are right. (y)

But our question just required a "yes or not". I mean, just to know it. I am not asking Godaddy to address (solve?) it right now because I know Godaddy takes "their time" to address their issues... :xf.rolleyes:

I guess it only happens with domains with Fast Transfer confirmed, because if not, it could lead to a great "shitshow", even if the domains just "temporary disappear" from the owner's "view" (but they are still there in their account  )

Just imagine someone accessing their Godaddy account to check their domain name, to change their DNS, to manage their MX records, whatever... and seeing the domain has magically disappeared from their view!

But our question just required a "yes or not".
The last time our GoDaddy liaison responded with ‘this is inaccurate,’ their answer turned out to be inaccurate, because a GoDaddy representative had previously explained to DNW that the domains were indeed moved out of the registrant account into a special account.

I can understand why they might now be more cautious with their responses. While this is frustrating for our community, incorrect answers are not helpful either. It’s a challenging situation. By the way, would you prefer tea or coffee?

GoDaddy live chat support is probably the strangest I've ever seen, when a problem requires too much effort to resolve, they just leave the chat. I've had better support by calling them directly and connecting with an agent in the US.

Hi @Future Sensors
To shed a little more light: domain names pending a sale move to a different internal status. The domain name is still under the registrant's ownership, but it will temporarily disappear from DCC during the sales process.

As for @anunt, this was an edge case where a lot of domain names went into the pending sale status, but weren't ultimately sold. Our investigation showed that the inventory system didn't clear the pending sale status as it should when the cart times out. This was an isolated issue, but the team is monitoring closely.

In the meantime, the pending sale status was removed and the domain names are visible in @anunt's account again.

So, this is concerning.

Apply this to someone with thousands of domains, like myself.

It would be easy to not even notice domains missing.

In the OP's case, what would have happened without manual intervention? What if they didn't notice the missing domains?

I am aware of cases, including my own, where a domain also got stuck in this status.

In at least one case, the domain did not move back correctly without GoDaddy having to do something on their end after I brought it to their attention.

I've had a few cases over the years where the name was missing for over a week and I had to have my Godaddy rep clear it out for me.

What makes @anunt's situation so unique that you consider it an isolated issue? Many others have reported similar incidents over time, so it can’t be considered isolated by definition. GoDaddy failed to identify this issue on their own; it’s always the community or DNW that has to prioritize integrity checks before GoDaddy reluctantly takes action. GoDaddy should have these checks and quality processes in place proactively, not just in this case, but throughout the entire company.

Hi @anunt
Your domains are indeed in a premium hold - this simply means that one or more customers has added your domain names to their cart and were in the checkout process. These names do not leave your account while they’re in a premium hold, but they are no longer visible to you because of the pending transaction.

Usually, you wouldn’t see this, since domains tend to be purchased immediately once they are in the cart.

We’re working with our team to understand more about the specific circumstances around the multiple domains being in a premium hold, and we’ll let you know more as soon as we can.

I have tested this multiple times at Godaddy and at partner registrars. Adding a domain name into a cart DOESN'T result in my name going into the "on hold" status. Yet I keep hearing it from GD/AN support.

Also, regardless of the name status, I should be able to see my names in my account AT ALL TIMES. If it is about to be bought and moved, just grey it out or keep as is but without possibility of changing anything on it (except renewing).

Then what does cause it to go on Hold? I know it's now when payment is made, because then it comes off hold.

When I see a name on Hold for too long, or if I am curious about a large sale on Hold, I will ask my Afternic rep about it and he'll tell me either that it's in a cart at Godaddy/Afternic or it's in a car at a partner. He looks it up and can see the difference. I really don't think he's lying to me.

So it sure sounds like it goes on hold when it goes into a cart.

Just test it for yourself. It is not that hard.

You're correct. It did not go on hold and stayed in my GD account as well.

So what causes names to go on hold?

Another of GD mysteries. Even their reps sincerely believe adding to cart causes this.

Just get an email from Godaddy said my names will be auto-renew soon.

But none of the names is my names.

Sometimes I get those after I sell a name. I would imagine that the buyer did not change the contact info (which is weird).

It's probably part of a new GoDaddy Boost program 😂

Imagine having such a boost, so that others renew your domains but you keep owning them.
I would like such boost from Godaddy.
