Some my thoughts (all :imho: ):
1. I think there is no hype. It was exiting moment in regging the last available LLLLs few weeks ago, it is exiting now for some domainer to trade some of them, to feel what the product they bought is worth now, if there is interest in the market for that product.
As the product is bought currently at premium, the sellers will probably keep the larger part of their portfolio, waiting for more gains in the future. It means, we will not see large sell out in the coming weeks and months and the prices will continue to rise steadily.
2. We do not see overextented prices. Some nice LLLLs being sold at "high" prices are the sign that they were previously
undervalued and are filling now a gap between non-premium LLL for 6K and premium LLLL for 0.6K which existed in previous months.
Would you prefer an unpronauncable "LLL" or pronauncable "CVCV"? And if
(all just abstract examples, I do not know the prices for following domains) XYZ.com would cost you 10,000 and LOLA.com just 2,000? Will it be still the same decision?
3. I expect the prices to rise constantly, as mentioned on dyyo.com page (and graph). Two
very unlikly events that can stop or ruin the prices are global (not just US or China or whatever) crisis (not recession, depression or stock market correction) or popularity of newly introduced extention (lets say, all of us in 10 years will use only .tel or .web, becase producers of phones and keyboards put a special button for it and companies promoting such extention spend lots of money bringing its image in line with .com). Such events, although possible, are highly unlikely.
4. internet penetration grows, expecially in developing countries. Such countries are using local extentions, but parallel usage of global extention .com (as well as .net from the first wave, and extentions of second wave: .info, .org) will rise. So will rise the demand for short and especially short pronauncable names. LLs will cost millions, LLLs will cost 10 times more than now, LLLLs will cost may be 60-120 for the worst ones to x,xxx for good ones, the rest is between these levels (all for .com extention).
5. After reading this thread, I decided to check the market. I put one unique LLLL from my portfolio on auction here at NamePros. Currently it is at 11$ (6 bids):
http://www.namepros.com/domains-for-sale-auctions/397420-very-rare-vqxt-com-one-last.html
If there were a hype, I would see a price of at least 30-50$ immediatly with tens of bids, and probably even higher few days later. If the hype existed but was over, I would not seen any bets above regfee.
So, looks like we are in the normal market conditions for LLLLs right now. Although I would prefer a hype mood today or tomorrow to sell my unique domain

, for the short term as well as for the long term we have quite good prospects of constant, stable growth. :imho:
