Is the LLLL.com HYPE down now?
It looks like selling 4 letter is not as profitable as it was last week and right after november 2.

If some did a big investment on these I don't know if they are loosing money. Some have portfolio of hundreds LLLL.com that are not premium so if they spend $800.00 (register fees) how will they sell them all if there is no more buyers?

I know I have a solution (in my guide) but even this, I think that many will bite their fingers.

Do you think that 4 letter dot coms will increase value or will be selling at "wholesale" cheapest price ($6.00 - $16) in future?

I think the hype is starting to fade, and some more realistic expectations are starting to be shaped among both sellers and buyers.

I hope prices go down and stay at sane levels for at least another year or two (while I am still buying more :^)

of course it would happen

people must have in mind they wont be rich in the overnight and that man people would put their LLLL to sale... and as there are hundreds of them being sold their prices wont be that much that people are waiting for

besides, their value will increase significantly in some years; a buyout helps in a increase of their value but it is the time, supply X demand and the internet growth that will give the substancial profit to those who own LLLL

The hype is down, although sales seem strong in my books.

I easily sold some poor quality LLLL.coms for low-mid xx a couple of days ago, and I also sold a high quality LLLL.com for 625% ROI!

Yes, I think domains sales are slowing now for poor quality ones, I'm sure to see them selling at bottom price coming months but premium ones still have same value as before and are highly sought after, recently someone sold Hono.com for over $4000.00 so CVCV.com and pronounceable ones are not undervalued.

I have noticed a lot of sales offers in the recent past of LLLL coms. This brings the supply up, which in turn is bringing the sales down.

Give it some time. Once people settle down with their LLLL coms and arent in a selling frenzy (as u might have seen in teh previous couple days), the demand will once again go up.

anyone selling LLLL.coms now is making a poor decision. the key with LLLL.coms is to hold until an end user contacts you and makes an offer (likely because it represents the initials of their company, product, service, etc.). any experienced domainer knows that LLLL.coms are increasing in value...even the ones YOU think are least attractive. one person's trash is another's treasure, especially in the LLLL.com market. i have a large portfolio of LLLL.coms and i am always surprised at the names i receive offers for.

I think that the initial hype
was because it was possible
to get them for reg fee...

I guess it depends on the time required, so market and sell the name, if it is more than an hour or so per domain then it probably isn't profitable to buy names for $8 and sell them for $20.

well, it's also a nice way for a newbie :hi: to get their feet wet and learn the ropes of buying and selling with a low-risk low-price but probably worthy commodity to trade. So putting some time in getting to know the market dynamics and how other players conduct their business can also be a worthwhile investment beyond the few dollars profit (or loss) on any given deal ... :)

Hype still seems huge to me. A lot of solid sales going through eBay, TDNAM and Snap. Definately a lot higher than a month ago.

Again I reference the graph at:
http://dyyo.com/analysis_remaining.php
Since March 2006, when there were anbout 100,000 LLLL.coms available there has been a very steady drop. Only two events mar the straight line - the .Mobi landrush in October 2006 and the run at the end. That graph shows an increased demand (including renewals/drops) every month. There is increasing demand for LLLL's and that will continue, baring major external factors.

I think current reseller prices will look really low in six months, as the short timers run out of domains to sell.

Very good point. It is amazing how people forget to consider their labor rates when pricing an asset. Even at $20 with one hour labor you are pricing your labor at $12/hour, which is low. Most people probably have a *burdened* labor rate many times this. At $12/hour you are pricing your labor at the fast food entry level.

filter makes a good point in the post that if this is a learning experience then a low price is fine, otherwise you are selling yourself cheap.

so do you want fries with that domain???
