qpon? Just a typo of coupon and a bad one at that.

Some of these are too limited in scope for my taste. Even the good ones don't quite pass the mass registration test. I like .estate, but the intuitive ones are either reserved (real.estate) or already regged. I doubt if wealthy people are going to build websites with the name of their estates, given that they tend to stay anonymous as possible. I was thinking more legalistic terms, but there just aren't that many legal terms ending in estate

Also, it looks as though Donuts is now reserving one-letter domains, particularly in .land (I don't know about the other Donuts gTLDs -- they were pretty wide open in .estate, and I snagged two, but, still...).

Even .social is problematic; .buzz is better because it has a specific "celebrity" cachet, but I don't see it as a major money maker for the registry. These new gTLDs need to depend on mass registration in order to succeed, and I don't see that happening.

I'd guess that these new gTLDs will change things faster than just a generation (which some sociologists say is like 40 years).. things can change on the Internet and in the digital age very very fast; how long have smartphones been around? tablets like iPad? less than 10 years, eh?

These gTLDs have been officially delegated by ICANN, meaning that they are active, and second level domains will resolve if they exist.

The response from the root nameservers generally means that the gTLDs are in the root zone but some might not go to general availability for a while yet.
